Advice on Crediting to other OW programs

Hello FT-ers,

I am 50000 miles short of renewing DM and have upcoming flights (totalling 25000 miles). What is your advice on a great option to credit these miles to, in the middle of the calendar year?

Thanks!!

You mean you won't make DM so you're just gonna let go? Bear in mind a lot of the most popular OW FFPs have switched away from mileage-based earning for status, so it's better to know what kind of fares your 25k miles are in.

Thank you G-CIVC
It's a great point of caution! For those 25K miles, they are going to be accrued from biz class travels.

It really depends what your goal is. Status? Redeemable Miles?

I think you are best off asking here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/onewo...help-here.html

I'm quite confused how you are 'miles short' for renewing DM - do you mean 500 points instead of 50000 miles? Not sure what your 25K miles are itinerary-wise but if they are two long haul roundtrips then that's 360+ points, which then you could just find some club point run to fill up the remaining. Also, MPC does not reset by calendar year...how much time do you have left and do you expect any remaining travel other than your booked 25,000 miles to help meet your DM renewal?

Thank you, nux!

I think I am looking for a mid-/low- tier sort of status. Thanks for pointing to a link which is great!

Hi G-CIVC, sorry for the confusion. As I was still a bit of my old self thinking of the previous system, I did not make it clear. I am around 600 CP short, and so these biz class travels only will add another 200-220 CP. I have around 2 months left so am at a loss as to what program to get those CP/miles credited to.

Thank you again!

It really depends what you want to get out of them, and how they are built up leg wise. BA is one of the easier ones (together with AA depending on you flying) to get status on - but it requires 4 BA metal legs per year (which is difficult if you never go to Europe).

Also what kind of money would you be willing to spend to keep DM. There are fares ex-Europe that would get you the necessary points for about 20000 hkd timed correctly. I flew OSL-LHR-HKG-SYD return for 21000 hkd a few months ago... (I think that was close to 400 points according to the new chart).

You can forget about crediting to AAdvantage now that they have up'd their requirements for status eligibility starting August 1st.

The status requirement is not going to be changed until the new year.

The August 1 change affects RDM earning.

Also it doesn't affect partner tickets only tickets issued by AA.
