Reaching 1 Million Miles with CX
I reached the 1 million-mile mark with CX recently.
Question to forummers here - does CX send you a letter, or a gift, call you or do anythingto congratulate you for the milestone?

I make sure I never fly on my birthday... Also have not reached MM yet, only halfway there. I think I'm doing okay. It's ironic that whenever I fly CX, I get an op-up whereas since now living back in the US, I fly a lot of AA, so I buy a lot of F fares since I can't get on the upgrade list (which aren't that bad).

(was told so when I checked-in and was congratulated)

I've since crossed 1.5mm and am closing in on 2mm shortly. Not holding my breath. Don't think I got anything for 1.5mm.
It is indeed fairly pathetic how loyal many of us have been and how little we have to show for it. CX is the long-term loser in this situation as we divert spending elsewhere. I've taken to flying competitors on more expensive tickets - for example, booking SQ F HKG-SFO a number of times, EK F for numerous tickets, etc. A lot of this business I previously would've given to CX but it's not worth it IMO.

IIRC, I got a J->F upgrade SFO-HKG when I crossed 1mm miles. It was some years back so I don't entirely remember the situation. Definitely nothing much else though.

But there are probably (way) more AA golds than the population of HK. And probably more EXPs in California than total DMs. Etc etc

In "On the Horizon", Cathay notes that over 17,000 MPC members have travelled more than one million miles.
