The 787 and to a lesser extent the 777 is same way. The reason is the cabin crew rest located above.

787s also lack bins in the forward section for the pilot rest. People adapt.

Unfortunately people also ..... and moan and fight. You should see the flights from Singapore full of cakes taking up the lockers, and CX is generally not good at policing cabin baggage allowances.

Apparently the overhead locker was vandalized by a passenger who raged of lack of overhead space. The cabin crew tried explaining to him that it's part of the A350 design for this panel to be an exit-way for the crew rest area above instead of general storage space. But the guy won't accept the explanation (or simply refused to believe it), so he ripped out the panel out of rage. CX is refusing to comment if they will chase this guy to pay for repairs. :D

B-LRC took its first commercial flights today. noticed this morning on the internet.

So there are now two A350s officially flying in commercial service for CX.

People moan and fight, but that doesn't make vandalism right, or does it make it the fault of the airline.

fwiw, I was told by a pilot yesterday that a CX Diamond member was the offending party. Wonder if he's a board member here! Would be keen for the full story.

This one would be interesting indeed.

While this is obviously an act of stupidity (damaging and delaying a plane for overhead space?), there always issomething more to a story. Maybe s/he was last on the plane, not due his own fault, etc.

Im surprised a DM would be last to board...and would run out of space...then again he could have missed his connection...and was in a foul mood....still not an excuse.

Honestly some DMs think they could do anything and get away with it.

Certainly not an excuse, but I am guessing something like missed connection + running to the gate + last to board could have ticked him off. With all these FT'ers desperately trying to score seats on 350 planes I am hoping someone will turn up who has witnessed this whole show go down :p

I won't be surprised if a DM board last (yeah I'm king so you must wait for me...)... Nor don't have overhead bin space (can be either taking too many hand carry bags, or simply board too late... But usually crew will allow a DM to put the bags in J bin if there's really no more bin)...

What I really would be surprised if he is a DM is... His seat is in the last few rows of the plane? Even though I did get seated once in the second last row when returning from BKK when I was GO few years ago.... With a DM at my back....

The fact that there were no handles...means it's not an overhead locker....it's common sense. Do you put a sign on a wall that says "not a door, do not pass"?

Although I think CX will eventually put a sign just to be sure.

Oh...and I wonder why the fact where the crew informed the passenger about the lockers was left out.

I also saw such view (CX's fault for not putting a label there) in other forums... I really don't know common sense is so scarce now....

But no one taking such view can answer me why people keep putting stuff into the bin with emergency equipment inside and have a "No Stowage" label outside...

The centre pods (D/G) on AC's 788s do not have overhead storage of any kind, as the pilot rest area is above this section.

I have yet to see a single issue of "overhead bin rage" on any of my flights on this aircraft (almost 40 at this point). It seems the storage above rows A and K offer enough room for everyone.

There are no labels as no one can reach up that high.

As for whoever felt the need to take out their frustrations on brand new CX aircraft, regardless of whatever status they may have, they either need a "time out" as we call it, or a course in anger management in addition to paying for damages.

This nonsense of pax and crew taking out their frustrations on each other and equipment is foolish and dangerous.

You might all enjoy this active thread on AA, or you may shake your heads in disbelief.

Some of the comments are hilarious, but others make me wonder if we live in an alternate universe.

Did stumble upon that thread, too, and read through all of it. It's definitely an alternate FT universe over there.

Based on KVS, there's one coming in on August 10 (Leaving TLS on the 9th)

B-LRE had her first flight yesterday.
