Any feedback on best seats in J. I am on HKG-AKL currently scheduled on a A350. I have allocated 20 D&G which are the front 2 middle in the smaller rear cabin. Anyone know if these 2 have the larger footwell the same as 11's on the 77W. Also which door is used for loading? Would it be the door immediately in front of 20 or the forward door.
I know there are only a few people out there who have flown on this new plane but at the moment I seem to have some good choices of seats so any info would be appreciated.

First world problem I know, but just trying to make the best choice as need good rest as flying LHR-DOH-HKG prior to boarding the above flight.

Thank you

I can't comment on the seat....sadly haven't ridden CXs a359 yet....but I've seen it boarding a few times now at HKG. Both the L1 and L2 doors were being used.

20 bulkhead has the same footwell size as other seats from recollection. I also found the 2nd cabin a little depressing (it certainly doesn't have the same feel as the 77H minicabin) - can't put my finger on it, maybe it's because you're staring at a huge blank plastic wall.

Some comments on other seats - Contrary to popular belief, the bulkhead window row 12 footwell is SMALLER than on other rows. It's not a seat i would choose, also the lavatory is smack in front of it.

The absolute worst seats on the plane in J are 11DG - stick your arm out and you will touch the lavatory doors. It's THAT close. It's also very exposed.

I found 15/16/17 the ideal seats to have.

And on another note: In HKG they used both doors to board/deplane.

A few pics (nowhere near as good quality as i'd like)

First Pic is bulkhead footwell row 12

Second Pic is footwell row 15

Third Pic is a shot of 20DG

thanks for those pictures.

one thing i think i can say unequivocally is that QR's A350 J cabin is far more stunning than CX's design. Granted, QR removed the entire galley by the L2/R2 doors and all center overhead bins. But the result is a remarkably stunning interior. This looks...like an upgraded A330;).

I still am a big fan of Cirrus J so it's more a stylistic thing than anything else...unless of course the FAs use CX's door 2 galley as a battleground for meal preparation.

Anyone know if that middle J galley is being used for Y meal prep like we heard some rumors about?

Uh-oh...is the green surround underneath the TV screen (ie the "roof" of the footwell) already starting to come away?

That I'd agree with.

Yeah, it was coming off. Was somewhat disappointed for a brand new plane to experience this.

Bummer.

I don't know the details, but I do know that Cathay had a lot of issues with Zodiac (manufacturer of Cirrus J seat) over the J class on the A350. I'm not sure what it was related to exactly, could've been unrelated to this quality issue.

But based on a few casual conversations I've had, Zodiac has massively underwhelmed some of its customers. Some went public with their disappointment like AA, others like CX (and Airbus and Rolls) let it be a not-very-well-kept-secret that Zodiac was to blame for their A350 delays, and at least one customer I know is happy to talk trash over cocktails but hasn't publicly said anything yet. I can't be the only person they're jabbering to.

Does it allow for storage underneath the ottoman? (to compensate for lack of overhead space?

Isn't it AA (former USAirways A330) that allows storage underneath the ottoman? I think I've seen this allowed somewhat on VN as well.

No compensation is needed. The overhead bins on A350 are huge. I've only flown on QR's A359 J class 2x, but both instances there was enough space. Yes you share with someone else (vs 77W on CX, JL, AA etc, you usually have your own, especially if not in the minicabin), but they are huge.

QR's cubby beneath the ottoman isnt big enough for a suitcase, like you can do in CX F. But I put my briefcase down there and wasn't estopped. I l think perhaps there was a note that said no storage for takeoff or landing but if so, it was ignored. still definitely not close to being big enough to store anything of size.

From photos, the CX A359 bins in J *look* to be of the same extra large size as QRs. There will be plenty of space if so, especially since CX has installed the center bins too.
