Contrast that with 77H, a plane I think I have 100+ flights on and I'd bet 60pct in J, only once in my life have I seen a complaint. A Diamond member loudly yelling in the cabin pre departure "I am a Diamond member! I don't like this seat!" (seriously) in CDG, complaining about 15A the seat without windows.

Wow, good to discover this before I fly my first A350 flight. I selected 15A for an upcoming DUB-HKG. Have to change my seat. Thanks QRC3288.
14A/K 15A/K on 35G are the ones with a misaligned window. |

77H/77A: 15A lacks (any) windows 35G: 15A is fine (35G is the A359 config, and flies to Dublin) You can see our notes on which seats have windows or not at this link, plus a lot of other info: Cathay Pacific / Cathay Dragon Fleet Route and Configuration Guide |

Fake news, no refreshes have been done.
Checking out on older youtubes, yes, indeed, the curtain was there before :D So, then we are back to: - Be even more creative with curtains. - Maybe just take care, the curtain is closed for 75%, which directs the passengers to the "away from 11D/G" side of the curtain. - Assign 11D/G only to (nearly) free riders and block the sales of these seats for high paying customers. - On the A359 kick out these Row 11 toilets completely, put J seats there and swap the no-windows 19A/F seats for a Toilet unit. Would require significant underfloor redesign, though who knows, it's possible. - Sell the A350's and redo https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif |
Having done a LH on the MH A350, J class, best seat 3A, my remarks:
- Despite having the best seat, pretty cramped compared to the CX LH J-class. The same for the length of the flat seat, just long enough (being around 1.85m). - The whole seat is surrounded by metal, which, combined with the low cabin temperature, gives cold-radiation all around. - Cabin temperature is low, that low, the crew is wearing extra MH clothing during night time. Though this gives better sleeping opportunity, without heating up, etc. - The seat cushioning: EXCELLENT in the MH A350. It's all air cushion, which makes it extremely comfortable. CX: You definitely can learn from MH in this area. - Mattress pad: Excellent, very nice, CX: Please provide that to..... - Pillow: Still somewhat thin, though a little thicker then at CX. - Duvet: Significantly more flimsy and less classy then the CX one, that thin, that during the night, I did put on my sweater to get a little warmer. - The "table" at the MH A350 is pretty monstrous. Not suitable to move (somewhat) aside and get out of the seat, as is possible with the CX seat. - Storage area's: Bigger area's not so much, though two very handy smaller area's. - The IFE: Definitely 2 generations further then the "updated" one at CX. High-res and a responsive GUI. Easy to handle. - IFE content: I did not check, though the compass page is an interesting tech-gadget. - Monitor pretty close to the face, without possibility to move it aside. - The whole feels pretty "techy" at MH, compared with the more classic at-home style at CX. - The whole seat environment feels pretty massive. - A lot of "small mechanics" do seem to have the same problems as the initial CX A350, for example, the small cabinet door was very difficult to open, table locking not locking, etc. - Toilets: A lot, lot smaller in size, then the CX ones. Less amenities. - Amenity kit: A bit strange, a lot of liquid/gel stuff, though no earplugs. - MH provides both socks and slippers. Nice, please CX, do that to. |
I've travelled on the A350 many times between Singapore and Bangkok and really enjoy it

Bringing this topic back to life again since I just got off my 2nd flight on the A350 with CX - but at the back of the bus. My other experience with the A350 was with Qatar, but in J.
- One thing I noticed about the CX A350 is the engine noise - it seems to be quite loud and has a very different sound compared to Qatar and even other Airbus family of aircraft - it is very obvious especially when it is climbing. Anyone know the reason for this? - i am glad that they decided to have the screen for bulkhead row fixed for at least the first 2 seats closes to the window : Good is that I can continue to enjoy the entertainment during T/O and Landing, Bad: quite exposed to those around you of the program I am watching. On my flight today, there was this rather peculiar male passenger (older person) who complained to the FA that this fixed bulkhead screen cannot be tilted and therefore he could not adjust it. (not sure why as for me it was fine and i don't believe he was any more taller or shorter than me). - felt that the padding of the seats to be not sufficient - after some time seating, the seat feels uncomfortable - the table for bulk head seats - not very well thought of - especially how far you can push it away from you. Even as a average person of size, I felt that it was really too close to the body to have a proper meal without hitting the table or if anything dropped, you'll have a hard time finding the space to move to get it back. I felt that they fixed it upside down (as in it could move closer towards you but not away - when it should have been the other way around) Cheers! |

Photo of row 40
I've taken 350 on business class few times but for the first time I managed to fly on Y so I grabbed the photo and did analysis of the best Y seat. In a nutshell, I think row 40 is BETTER than row 59 and/or seat 60A/K. Photo say it all but despite being a bulkhead, it has sufficient leg room. Also what I liked about row 40 seat AB + JK pairs is that seat monitor is mounted on bulkhead so you can have entertainment from takeoff to landing. Be careful about row 40 C and H asile, the TV is retractable TV and it has no bulkhead and feels "too open". The ABC+HJK pairs are NON bassinet so you can select them... I didn't take photo of the row 59/60 area but seat60A/K has no seat and feels little cramped, whereas row 59 tends to be gathering area for toilet and there is no seat-back to store your belongings. I've also taken photo of the PEY seat on landing. I think they are better than regional J seat from what I saw (albeit being 40" seatpitch vs 45" for regional J) Any insight on bulkhead row 30 DEFG in terms of leg room? I’m curious how well this will be for me to stretch my legs. I’m 6’0” (182 cm) and as lon as my feet comfortably hit the wall I’m okay with that. |

However it doesn't seem to stop the issue of when people behind you reach into their seat pockets or open the trays transmitting across to you. My other half got stuck with a moron behind that wanted to put his knees and feet on the seat. Got a swift telling off! |
All 700 or so bed extenders have been fixed/redone/QCed to acceptable standards

Just booked J award on CX for February, SFO-HKG-BKK and HKG-SFO. Used AA miles.
SFO-HKG is on CX893, their A350. Seatguru lists two different A350 planes for CX and one of them (351) is with angle-flat seats in J? That can't be right can it? They're both 1-2-1 layouts in J. The A35G is lie flat but I can't tell which one this CX893 flight would be. Return is on CX870, a 77W. They gave me 12K and Seatguru shows it right in front of lavatories. Bad seat, as for further up or behind? |

Bad seat, as for further up or behind? For the 77W the mini cabin behind F (rows 11 and 12) are arguably the best rows in biz class. The WC behind the seat has no impact. The mini cabin is very quiet with virtually no foot traffic. |

Heard that CX flies A350 for some regional routes? Could it be those that SG thinks has angle-flat in a 1-2-1 configuration or are all 1-2-1 cabins lie flat? I got 12k on the 77W but SG says the window on that seat is misaligned? Maybe I should check to see if row 11 windows are available, though the flight I chose will be leaving HKG at 13:00 and arriving at SFO at 9:25 AM so I would think it would be mostly flying at night? |
