The Wing - Atrium

Now that The Pier First Class Lounge has re-opened, does anyone know if Cathay plans to return The Atrium section of The Wing to the business class lounge (it used to be part of the business class lounge)... clearly the lounge gets quite busy so surely it would be a way to provide more space for business class passengers.....

Wing F was already very crowded when the old Wing F and Pier F were around. Most people just stayed at the Wing unless they knew their gates were near the Pier.

I don't expect that to change with the re-opening of Pier F. Wing F is REALLY crowded. I thought Wing J is already bigger than before, and with additional J capacity in the Bridge and the Cabin, I doubt if Wing J will get anything back.

J passengers/access members have more than enough choices at HKG. They don't need Wing's atrium.

I wish CX will turn G16 into the only lounge SL can access. Similar to BR's Silver members at TPE.

I'm with cxfan on this one - I fly out of HKG on a non-peak day and even then the atrium is 80% full 90 min prior to my flight.

I've gotta ask since I'm confused..in the lounge meet up thread you request someone bring you in but why would you want to limit SL members to the G16 lounge?? guessing you're a non status flyer or perhaps you lost your status??

I travel on a mix of revenue and redemption tickets on PEY and J. (And occasion spurge for F awards). As all my travel are personal leisure travel, my only "status" is whatever my wallet flows.

If you haven't been following, there's been numerous complaints about lounges being crowded enough as if. (And just look at the above responses about Wing both J and F). By allowing SL members access to J lounges while traveling in Y/PEY is already very generous of CX. Try asking that on BA, AA, or SQ!

BR at TPE:
The Garden = BR Diamond only
The Infinity = BR Diamond and F/J passengers
The Star = BR Gold and Star Alliance Gold members
The Club = BR Silver members

CX can do something similar.
Wing F = CX DM only
Pier F = CX DM and F passengers
Bridge = CX DM and OWE
Wing J = CX Gold
Cabin J = CX Gold and OWS
G16 = CX Silver

gotcha....but by you requesting someone guest you in aren't you adding to the problem when you're not flying J or F? though I do agree the lounges are full and that cx is generous to their SL members (having been one for 2 years before making GO)

Lounge benefits for SL may change. We don't know yet: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...o-way-pps.html.

That would be far too complicated, especially given the size of HKIA. I agree with the principle though.

(a renovated) Wing F = DM+/ F
Pier F = DM/OWE
Bridge/Wing J/Cabin = Gold/OWS/J
G16 = Silver

...would work better IMO. I definitely think Silvers should be taken out of the main lounges and there should be a CCR style top lounge only accessible to F passengers and DM+.

I'm aware of the potential changes and have been following but I find it funny for someone to complain about how crowded the lounges are but ask to gain access when they fly Y or Y+ thus adding to the problem ... that is all

The Wing - Atrium

For F lounges, the Pier and the Wing are quite far away from each other. Perhaps renovate the atrium for a F class only lounge to create something different. Perhaps allowing OWE flying J into this section as well?

There are many more J lounge options to segregate. G16 is a good Silver only lounge.

Closed for remodeling until November (?). It is inconvenient that F lounge passengers have to take a detour to Gates 1-4. (I just did that boarding from Gate 3 several hours ago).

While chatting with the bartender, he told me that he felt the remodeling would be done by November and will become part of the Wing F with some certainty. He did say what it was for, but I wasn't paying attention. I think he said CX is installing something like a bar there.
