Question Problem reaching a CX phone reservations agent

I'm currently in the Philippines, trying to call (well, actually skype,l but that's not a problem) a CX phone agent to check on an aspect of my wife's ticket.: getting her a seat assignment. It's an AA-issued award F ticket for which AA said a seat is assigned, but neither the email confirmation nor her reservation information at the CX website indicate this. And the site is not allowing me to select a seat for her. When I check via my own, separate record locator for the same flight, her supposed seat (at least, what the AA CSR told me was her seat) shows as empty.

The Manila CX reservation number recording says that they are too busy to answer at this time. The HKG reservation number just keeps me on hold for going on 30 minutes. Is there some better option to pursue regarding this? We leave in a few days, so I'd like to get this nailed down.

Thanks for any help.

Trick is to call HK late evening or way early morning, they do operate 24x7. CX wait time is notoriously bad.

I happened to call them at 3.45pm today, and the wait time was only 10 minutes, although I chose the Cantonese speaking option (it's my native language).

at 30 mins, you are pretty close to getting your call answered by an agent. you should hold on. they normally answer within 45 mins at peak times.

alternative is to call say during the morning hkt. that seems to be much quicker.

another alternative is to put your marco polo (if you have one) number into the reservation and get MPC to help with your seat assignment. wait times on that line are considerably less than the reservations centre.

agree though that the CX call centre wait times are overall atrocious.

I like CX and most aspects of flying them. But the wait time at their call centres is atrocious, from very long to infinite.

Now waiting at the 52 minute mark..ridiculous.

Now at 1 hour and 30 minute..I'm going to bed and no show tomorrow for my flight.

I haven't been able to call the MPC center all weekend. I am not sure what is going on. Im calling from the US and have tried using a calling card and even my own home phone line long distance.

isn't their number 011 852 2747 5500? I am getting a busy tone

I noticed they changed their telephone prompt system. It's a different voice now and I'm now asked to enter my MPO number at the end of entering my choices in the prompts instead of right at the beginning.

Also it says I've been prioritized (I guess being DM), the hold times seem just as long, so I guess I kind of feel bad for the rest if this is how ridiculously long my hold is.

No, based on my own experience I don't think DM is prioritized in the general hotline (last time I rang at 2305 and got connected at 2350)

Well that was explains the 50 minutes hold last night.

Normally for changes I call the DM line, but for ticketing I've had to call Reservations.
