And the site is not allowing me to select a seat for her. When I check via my own, separate record locator for the same flight, her supposed seat (at least, what the AA CSR told me was her seat) shows as empty.

The Manila CX reservation number recording says that they are too busy to answer at this time. The HKG reservation number just keeps me on hold for going on 30 minutes. Is there some better option to pursue regarding this? We leave in a few days, so I'd like to get this nailed down.

Thanks for any help.
at 30 mins, you are pretty close to getting your call answered by an agent. you should hold on. they normally answer within 45 mins at peak times.

alternative is to call say during the morning hkt. that seems to be much quicker.

another alternative is to put your marco polo (if you have one) number into the reservation and get MPC to help with your seat assignment. wait times on that line are considerably less than the reservations centre.

agree though that the CX call centre wait times are overall atrocious.
