Slightly off topic.

As a Oneworld Sapphire, I get priority boarding. My friend who have no status doesn't get to board with me right since his boarding pass would show no status? We're both on the same ticket btw.

But the OWRs are in Y...

I think I know why I haven't seen the four-queue - it's been >1 year I've flown on any plane with sold F. I'm that sad...

CX is doing it well to only board priority pax at first, but still, why does CX insist on GR having priority boarding is beyond me. Is any other airline giving priority boarding to basic level members?

Tradition?

In any case a lot of GR will be dropped this year, myself included.

Thanks percysmith, I think the max I would have with me is 2 at most.

Ah, here:

*1) Marco Polo Club Green card Tiers no longer get any priorities for both check-in and boarding, which is a good news for colleagues and member with higher tiers.
Every day we are tolerated by green card members inviting 5+ companions in the priority line since company did't give a clear guideline for 'Priority boarding'.
Every time we inform those passengers that they are not allow to invite the whole family in queue with green card identity, they will scold us and threaten us with complains.

Even with the changes with MPC Green still get designated MPC check in counter and priority boarding (so I guess its with the PEY) and silver and gold gets to board with Business class.

Probably things get tweaked from then till September final announcement (like the idea of cutting SL lounge access was also cut....)

I think key is not let GR have PEY priority boarding... Key is don't let them take anyone else with them to enjoy the priority.... You want to board first in PEY queue? ok. Take your entire family? Go back to Y queue please...

p.s. Few months ago when I was flying with my family, at gate I was allowed to take 2 of my family members to board from the J class queue (for a 3-class flight)...

p.p.s. At that time the queue was J/DM; PEY/GO,SL,GR; Y

This tier has an enrollment fee of US$100. And members can maintain their Green tier status by either earning 100 club points within a membership year, or by paying a US$100 annual renewal fee."

Apparently, CX would rather get $100 USD per person and make their ground crew suffer, rather than do the rational thing. Funny thing is GR getting priority boarding is one of the top complaints CX receives from their elite-paying flyers (from the insider), and yet CX still did this. Goes to show CX really is about nickles and dimes.

Except that the number of Green members will reduce dramatically in the coming months... Nobody's going to pay US$100 to get priority boarding on 3 or 4 flights a year surely?

Doubt that would make a difference. If they don't even fly a few times a year, you won't even see them at the airport at all. Although, as an OWE, I was once encouraged to bring my entire travel party of 4 to the priority lane - 2 of them on separate bookings.

It might work better if they use the same guest entitlement as the lounges - Silvers can only bring themselves, Gold can bring 1 guest, DM can bring 2. If the whole family is travelling, you will get priority anyway if you have young children. Otherwise, everyone is is basically an adult (or approaching adult age), and should be treated as any other pax.

Agreed, make it explicit, solves all problems.

Not necessarily. Agents will still get the rules wrong http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...l#post25113132

You will because there are huge numbers of them. Under the new system the number of people who fly enough to get 100 Points or are willing to pay $100, but who don't fly enough to get Silver, will be far far less than the current number of Green members who fly a couple of cheap short hauls each year (or people like me who only fly very occasionally, but have Green as a legacy of just shy of a million Club Miles). I will lose my MPC membership shortly, for example (though while I have been Green as far as I can remember I have only flown in F on miles, so I haven't inconvenienced anyone by taking priority anything based on my Green card ).
