I see, thanks for clarifying. Does the 0 mean it is sold out or not available (i.e. May possibly be released later)?

Could I trouble you to check CX252, CX238, CX250 and CX256 for 4 March as well? Basically I am keen to leave on any fight that day if possible. Many thanks in advance!

Is there any point calling up as a BA Emerald to see if they can "force through" an upgrade (already waitlisted) from J to F on JFK-YVR and back? Ticketed via BA.

Does non-CX status have any effect on redemptions?

CX252: F0 A0 J9 C0 D0 I0 W2 R4 E1 Y0 B9 H1
CX238: J9 C0 D0 I0 W0 R1 E0 Y0 B9 H9
CX250: F0 A0 J9 C0 D0 I0 W0 R1 E0 Y0 B9 H9
CX256: J9 C0 D0 I0 W0 R0 E0 Y9 B9 H9

Unfortunately it seems that J is so full throughout the day, so is PEY... Is that peak season for UK->HK traffic? The premium loading is so high.

That's not full - plenty of seats for sale. Just not cheaply. Wonder why...

I scanned the seat maps pretty quickly and they look quite filled up. Which means in reality inventory is even tighter. Does op want to try ex-MAN (J9 C9 D8 I5)?

Nope.
OTOH am surprised to know non-160 stock can be AM upgraded.

I'm still looking at

CX252: 11 empty seats
CX238: 12
CX250: 17
CX256: 11

I've redeemed seats on less empty cabins, but close in

Anyway, is seat map a reliable indicator of redemption clearance possibility? I thought someone said it wasn't.

I think while it may not be 100% reliable, it is a good proxy as most J class bookings come with ASRs. At least you know if most seats are taken then chances are slim.

On HKG-ORD route, I can basically predict when the U seats will start popping up closing to departure depending on number of seats taken on seat map.

am going to Okinawa but waitlisted for economy class I called the MPC but they said they pretty much don't know anything e.g., when the system will release more seats

April 26 KA 378 12:15 15:55
April 28 KA 379 16:55 18:35

This is not even over easter weekend nor labor day weekend

I still see plenty of seats available for sale through cathay website, what are my chances to have this itinerary redeemed?

I managed to clear OKA 1-4 May on 20 April last year. Didn't go eventually, it rained.

My apologies if this has been asked before. tried searching.

I have both an F and J ticket on the same flight booked with AA miles on CX.
The flight is not for another 3 months.
I am hoping to upgrade the J to F if another seat opens up. As of now its showing F5 (6 total seats).
The F is booked in my name and the J is booked in my wifes. The plan is to upgrade/downgrade one of them as soon as something opens up in either cabin (preferably both F)

Would it help that i waitlisted on Asia Miles for another F seat and if it clears, just cancel it? How often do those actually clear months out?
The F seat booked is in my name, and the waitlist i created is also in my name as i have no intention of booking it thru CX- hope thats not a problem either.

There are a few potential problems:
* If you cancel your Asia Miles waitlist when it clears, it doesn't mean it will return to the award pool. It may go to another AM waitlist, to a BA award if he/she just happens to see it, or to another AA award, or to..., or even return to revenue pool.
* The Asia Miles waitlist is in your name. If it ever clears, it can only be ticketed in your name.
* I encountered a few cases when AM issued tickets automatically when cleared. They told me at booking. Make sure that is not the case.

thanks for the help!

1) i would be ready to book immediately when cancelling the waitlist should it clear.
2) its in my name, but i dont intend to book with AM anyway.
3) i cant imagine they would ticket it...online it didnt even ask for a CC...they would ticket it without a CC?

That's good. They cannot ticket. Most of my awards were for upgrades and, until 3-4 months ago, there wasn't any additional charge.
