Possible to lock in a mix PE/J award booking and wait for waitlists to clear for J?

Also is there a specific time everyday they open their inventory?

thanks for the help

Can't lock. You will be forced to issue PE and reissue J if it is subsequently released.

You can waitlist on the Business, probably 30 days at a time. You cannot hold the PE unless you ticket it. USD100.

Little tip I just learned. I had set some waitlist reservations. I just learned that they expire without notification.

So as my target flight is getting close, I took a look and see they they just disappeared. With no notice. :-(

So... worth keeping an eye on that.

Hi there,

Confirmed on CX906/19Nov and waitlisted for CX907 both in Y. Loading for 907/20Nov is J9 C7 D6 I3 W9 R9 E9 Y9 B9 H0 K0 M0 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0.

How realistic is it to waitlist as a MPC GO? Or should I go ahead call MPC to redeem mixed class Y/PEY?

Yeah this has been happening since they switched over to Amadeus a few years ago.

Most waitlists have deadlines*. They're given in emails if booked online and in any case will show up in CX MMB:

* exception is when you've already issued a ticket and you're waiting for another flight, same route and same class for rebooking. E.g. my mother has the 8am from Sydney in beginning of Jan and is waiting for 11am and 3pm.

Hi Experts, I am hoping to do a redemption on PE class on the below flights, what are my chances like?

28/01/17 - CX659 HKG - SIN
01/02/17 - CX650 SIN - HKG

I need to fly on these dates, does it work if I book myself on the same flight itineraries paying for them and at the same time try my lucky on redemption waitlist? and cancel the paid bookings if I managed to get the waitlist?

Thank you in advance!

Chinese New Year? Forget it and just go with revenue if you must travel on those dates.

percysmith Oct 24, 2016 9:31 pm

Pretty good right now with E9 on both segments. However CX may choose to try and flog revenue tix until 2 weeks before departure.

Thanks percysmith! I'll try my luck on waitlist, I have nothing to lose I guess.

I want to confirm I have this right. I've built a return ticket all in one way flights: YVR-HKG-DPS. I have J for all except one: HKG-DPS which I have Y. I am wait listed for J for this flight. If I have this correct, and I don't get J for the final flight, can I apply for a refund for the extra points? Do they charge points for a J class return ticket? When do I apply for a refund and where?

percysmith Oct 27, 2016 1:40 pm

"I've built a return ticket all in one way flights: YVR-HKG-DPS."

Then you will be charged two one-ways at 85,000AM each. You can only apply for redund of difference between return and two one-ways when the one-ways are redeemed off the same itinerary (e.g. you redeemed the outbound before you have a return).

And no, you cannot join itineraries - you will have to waitlist seats on one or the other.

"HKG-DPS which I have Y. I am wait listed for J for this flight. If I have this correct, and I don't get J for the final flight, can I apply for a refund for the extra points?"

No pro-rated refund
If Asia Miles calculates there is a saving breaking your itinerary into economy/business versus business the whole way, they will generally issue the award as two different classes.

In your case
One-way YVR-HKG J: 70,000 AM
One-way HKG-DPS Y: 25,000 AM
70,000+25,000 > 85,000 so your ticket will be issued as business all the way, with economy seating HKG-DPS

Note that for your current HKG-DPS in Y:
1. You can continue to waitlist for J, but reissue US$100 fee applies to reissue from Y to J
2. Even tho you have paid J redemption miles, you are not entitled to any J privileges (lounges, priority baggage tagging etc). As far as Ground Agents are concerned you are a Y passenger so far as they can see.

Hey Percysmith, so if I have ticket# 1234 - 85,000 points one way and ticket# 8888 - 85,000 one way, they can not be combined for a return fare 145,000 points. I should have redeemed or wait listed all under one ticket at the time, correct? My mistake was picking up flights one at a time under different tickets? Could I phone Asia miles and ask them to put it under 1 ticket?
