Incorrect Responses from a Marco Polo agent

Grace from Manila: "sorry, you can only hold four waitlists on any one PNR" (this is a HKG-SYD return so I am entitled to three waitlists per way) (a HUACA to another agent got me my six)

3 is the max according to the rule. Previously they did not follow protocol and people can abuse the system.

3 per segment. No limit per PNR.

I have encountered the agents in Manila as well (and even with Filipino language just to let them explain the situation), the result was i gave up and took the better route via the Cantonese line.

I believe the issue really is part quality but a lot to do with training.

Disclaimer: i've lived in Manila and had experience/consulted for the BPO industry.

I haven't had a chance to update the other thread I started 2 weeks ago, but when I called in....the agent put me on waitlist for 4 segments inbound (3 outbound) without even asking. I didn't even notice until I refreshed my MMB.

Of course, I'm not complaining...

Another agent from Manila won't honour the 70% rule (16 Jan)

(70% rule: if you have >70% and <100% of the AM required for an itinerary, MPO will hold for a week whilst you promise to transfer in the remainder from credit cards. Even if the itinerary is fully cleared. Unwritten but I've been able to consistently get it)

Colleague 1 had problem getting it with Beijing in October. We HUACAed Manila together and got the extension.

Colleague 2 had problem getting it with Manila in January. I had to call Tsuen Wan the next morning for it.

Does the 70% rule apply to only CX redemptions only, or also partner airline redemptions? I have been told no when I use AM for partner airline redemptions.

I never tried, but redemptions on partner airlines seem to be allowed: http://www.asiamiles.com/am/en/site/terms#23

If you call again, you may get a "yes".

carrotjuice: CX/KA only

Not even BA/QF

Colleague 2 has itinerary HKG-(CX)FCO-(BA)LHR-(CX)HKG. I knew MPO won't waitlist the BA, so I asked for an itinerary with HKG-(CX)FCO//LHR-(CX)HKG to be held for a week.

Here's another - Tsuen Wan:

Me: "Check availability for 20/6 and 21/6 HKG-LHR Y-->PE and PE-->J"
Tsuen Wan agent: "PE all full, J all full"
Me: "Are you checking upgrade avaiability or full redemption availability?"
Tsuen Wan agent: "Full redemption. No seperate inventory for upgrade."

I was in Bangkok last weekend and I got an SMS from Cathay that my departure was delayed which will make me miss my connecting flight. So I tried looking for the toll free reservation number but found none so I decided to just call the Marco Polo hotline.

Spoke to 3 Manila agents, all I wanted is to change my flight from the 8am to 6:30 am, the first two agents told me that I will be charged for rebooking but I told them I'm on business class, they told me they need to still check the records from the eservices team and they will get back to me. It was nearing 10pm BKK time, when no one called me midnight, I called the MPC hotline again in my desperation, I spoke in Tagalog, although the agent replies were in English. She finally managed to confirm my seat and promised me that they will have the ticket reissued within the hour.

Finally got the eticket at 1am, leaving me just 2 hours to nap and head to the airport.

This is true (or at least I have been told a few times by different agents on the Cantonese line). Full redemption or upgrade, they do not have separate inventory. It's first-come-first-serve basis.
