Good grief. For those of us who are not privileged to fly J or F, the service of QR in Y is MILES ahead of CX. The would serve two hot meals (with appetizers, main and dessert) in economy between HKG and DOH. CX ? Fat chance. And 30kg of check in luggage on QR vs. 20kg on CX. CX - please surrender your slot back to QR.
I think CX is better as they use the newer seats and with better IFE. I think CX serves 2 meals even in Y (if they are like DXB). Actually how do you know CX will serve 1 meal? The route haven't even started. As for luggage. Don't really care as I have DM. QR is really bad for J Class if they continue use the 332 to HKG. |

As for service standards, not sure how you know what CX will do on a route not yet launched? |

Depends on the aircraft. Almost inevitably the 787 will one day end up flying the route for QR with its tiny Y seats, likewise CX has some awful shell seats in the fleet (although not on any aircraft that are likely to see DOH as a destination).
As for service standards, not sure how you know what CX will do on a route not yet launched? I guess these stuff dont really cost much (see SQ if one argues that mid-3 has an significant edge of cost than CX) yet vastly improve the flying experience. Cutting cost measures :( I mean 2 wrongs dont make a right |

DOH
On baggage allowance, CX seems to have made a carve-out for Qatar..

Meal offerings on the 0100 departure from DOH to HKG on QR consisted of two full meals (both lunch/dinner types). None of this lunch/dinner followed by breakfast/brunch stuff on CX. There is something really odd about QR's timing on meal services. The second meal is served THREE hours before landing. Imagine Doha to HKG on a good day with strong wind - 7-hour flight. You would have eaten your first meal and served your second meal three hours later. Now, customer service on the ground with QR can go TERRIBLY wrong when something happens to your flight. In this regard CX wins. Unfortunately I had THAT experience. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qatar...hong-kong.html |

No question that CX serves two meals on an 8-hour flight, but I question the quality/quantity for those of us who fly Y. The chicken and red medlar congee served for breakfast (2nd meal) on the midnight departure from HKG to DOH on QR (Y) was some of the best plane congee, with slivers of ginger to be seen floating on top. And fruit was a combination of papaya, pineapple and grapes, not just two pieces of watermelon.

No other Oneworld/codeshare airlines get the Premium Terminal, so I doubt CX would be different on a CX flight number. What I'm not sure of is what happens if its a QR flight number on a CX aircraft (or Oman Air, MEA etc) ?

Bread+Fruit+Muffin are only served for second meal on CX746. Not sure about other middle-east flights with afternoon arrival into Hong Kong. (http://flight-report.com/en/report-5703.html) |
Asia Miles now can be used
Now bookable with Asiamiles. Shows up as 30k rather than 25k one way from TPE to DOH, (some days did show up as 25k in late April at least). Decided to redeem J 45k for one way.
