It seems as if passengers on business class on Cathay-operated HKG-DOH/DOH-HKG will also get access to the premium terminal. Or so the Cathay website claims (look at the caption under the picture showing the QR premium terminal)

if this is true, then this "upgrade" sucks! I was assuming it'd be 33G.

Would be pretty crap to be in that new regional J for 7+ hours. Although I like the AVOD, you cannot get out of the window seats if the person in the aisle is extended, and I don't think it's good for a middle/long haul at all. It's a wonderful short-haul product I give CX kudos for that, but I would not want to fly in it to Sydney or the Middle East, for example.

I was joking!

does not seem like to me if you fly CX you'd get to the premium terminal.

No other Oneworld/codeshare airlines get the Premium Terminal, so I doubt CX would be different on a CX flight number. What I'm not sure of is what happens if its a QR flight number on a CX aircraft (or Oman Air, MEA etc) ?

Just wondering, does QR codeshare with any other Oneworld members on flights to/from DOH that are operated by the non-QR airline? From what I remember when I was last there, I saw a lot of QR flights that other Oneworld members have placed their numbers on, but none that are actually operated by the other member.

If so, then it might explain it...

If there are none, then it's probably not much of a burden to allow these CX flights into the PT. It adds no more passengers than before. It would be a kick in the teeth to book with QR and find yourself shoved in the Oryx lounge because they swapped your flight.

By the time all the existing QR bookings have lapsed and everyone on board booked with CX the new airport should be open anyway.

Are there going to be any onward code shares on either side?

correctioncx Feb 26, 2014 8:04 am

So they must've played around with the schedule earlier in the week as I saw a number of weird times Eg dept 4am and they blocked the ASR seat maps at the time.

At least to African destinations it would make lots of sense. And how about Brazil, is the route via DOH competitive compared to other choices?

They can already go via the USA or via LHR as 2 good options on OW...
(though the USA isn't the best option as both HK people and Brazilians need a US visa, despite the approval rates for both being very high.)

Good grief. For those of us who are not privileged to fly J or F, the service of QR in Y is MILES ahead of CX. The would serve two hot meals (with appetizers, main and dessert) in economy between HKG and DOH. CX on an 8-hour flight ? Fat chance. And 30kg of check in luggage on QR vs. 20kg on CX. CX - please surrender your slot back to QR.

fair fair. i wasn't thinking about Y in my comments so need to concede somewhat. I've never flown in QR in Y class but from what you say it sounds rather civilized.
