CX J and KA J are now the exact same regional product.

Couldn't find a separate thread, but does anyone know whether all the KA 321's have been updated with the new business class? Debating whether to book Y or J for an upcoming flight.

Doesn't look like it will take much room more than the J's seat.
Wonder if CX/KA will really profit from these "F" seats...or just slowly turn into an op-up heaven....
I guess the HK and Mainland tycoons would appreciate the added privacy and recline. The new J seat on Dragonair is not really private IMHO and could offer a better resting position.

Thanks. I'd seen that, but it wasn't clear to me whether that indicated what was planned or already installed. KA website says the 321's would be getting the new J "from May 2013" but when you click on "business class" under the 321, the old product is pictured and described.

I'm specifically interested in the HKG-RGN route, if anyone has recent experience with that.

regardless of old or new J - KA's 321s are very tight on legroom unless you score row 11 or one of the exits. J class is much much better.

According to the KA website, the new business seats will be introduced on the A330-300 from March 2013 and the new first class seats are to be installed on select A330-300 aircraft from the end of the first quarter of 2014. Do we anticipate the new F seats to be installed at the same time the new J seats are installed or will the new F seats be installed at a point in time after the new J seats are installed?

B-HYI and B-HYF have already been installed with new J and new F.

Was on KA640 (HKG-NGB,A321) and KA951 (TAO-HKG,A333) last week.

Good points about the new regional J seats:

- The new AVOD entertainment system, USB port for charging smartphones (the small pocket near the screen is designed for iPhone though, which could be a bad point)

- The new bigger table enhances the dining experience. I find I could still dine comfortably without sitting completely upright.

Bad points:

- Storage at the side of the seat is not generous as it states and I always prefer storing the newspapers and magazines into the pocket behind the front seats instead.

- Don't know why I still prefer taking a nap and feel better to relax with the old lazyboy style J seats. The new J is not as cushioned and supportive as the old lazyboy seat. I never found a good position with my leg-rest as well.

I haven't seen many pics of the new F cabin on KA's A330's so I figured that I would post some here. I had a chance to experience the cabin on KA902 from HKG to PEK. As some folks pointed out, the F and J cabins on this route sell. There are a lot of VIPs (party officials and businessmen) and it makes for an interesting environment onboard.

he menu looks a little short though. My menu last year was much more elaborate (1400 departure from PVG).

I've never flown KA longer than 3 hours, but I love their new regional-J product. Way superior than CX's regional J, which is a joke in my opinion.

I'm flying the KA951 which I think does not have a first class (it didn't when I flew last year) and it was a joke of a J cabin (pretty bad food, non-flat reclining seat, etc).

I have the same flight coming up soon and I'm really hoping it will be better this time, but I doubt it.

My reservation is a first class ticket so it's really a shame that KA does not have a first class for this route.
