Early reset in the middle of trips
I currently 5000 miles short for renewing my membership, which has an expiration date of 30 November. I have a few trips before the end of year:
1. DXB - SIN - TPE - DXB on CX in mid Oct.
2. DXB - AKL - MEL - DXB on CX in early Nov.
3. DXB - YYZ - IAD - LHR - DXB on AA-BA in late Nov.
4. DXB - HKG on CX in early Dec.
5. DXB - NRT - TPE - DXB on CX in late December.
All segments in Y with 100% mileage crediys.
I wonder if it is possible to ask CX to rest my membership after the SIN - TPE such that I don't have to waste a bunch of credits to this year's quota.
Thanks.

I have been able to get early resets in the month of the reset eg supposed to reset at 30 November, could get it reset 5 November. If you are a Diamond I think they might consider earlier resets, but you would have to be lucky.

Thank you for the replies. I am only gold, do they reset for gold?

In the past, they've re-set me at my request in the middle of my last month, ie, year expired on June 30, by mid-month I had exceeded 60,000 and this way another trip at the end of the month didn't go to waste.
It might be worth a search around here, but I seem to recall reading threads where people said that if they have met the re-qualification threshold by the first day of their last month (meaning, for me it would have been by June 1), MPO will automatically reset you and you basically get a 13-month year. Would that be your situation? It looks like if this happened you might lose out some miles for your first trip, but then the subsequent trips would count toward the new year? Also, I thought someone mentioned that if you end the year over your threshold, they may take those extra miles into account if you're short the next year.

Yes I was gold when requesting the reset at the beginning of the month. It used to be reset automatically around the 4th of the month if you had already requalified. This year it didn't seem to happen automatically so I rang up and requested, and it was done straight away.

Thank you for all the replies. Other than the Oct. trip, all remaining trips will fall during the last month or later. I shall give them a call when I get to Taipei next month and see how things go. Thanks again and have a pleasant weekend.

Interesting question, so then if you resent early are you expecting effectively an extension of your membership (even beyond the 13 months you suggest).
Example, I will be at 120,000 miles at the end of month, but my membership runs until end-April, if I ask for reset at end of September, I don't imagine they will extend until end-April 2015 surely?

For example, if you request for a reset at the end of September, your new membership year will be effectively until September 30, 2014.
Not 2015 or anything.

This year my DM renewed automatically as soon as I hit 120K which was only about 5 months into my year. I didnt know about this until a new card arrived at my office. I wonder if this is now going to happen automatically in future.

Then it should show your membership year in the middle of the page next to the title "Membership Details".
This new CX website is a navigation nightmare. Worse than BA which I thought was pretty bad.

I never bothered to look at it before so thanks for this, so I guess my new expiry is end of March but I will hit 120 K well before then so lets see what happens.I have done over 100 K since then anyway so I will make a point of checking nearer the 120 K.
