Flight Change Help
Flyertalk has always been a great help to me and I can usually find answers without posting,,,,,until tonight.
Need some help with changing a flight.
2 months ago I bought a roundtrip ticket SFO-Clark, Philippines. I bought the ticket online using the Cathay website. My original return date was 11/21.
Tonight I get an email from Cathay saying that they changed my Clark-HKG leg to 1 day earlier 11/20. This leaves me a 25 hour layover in HKG. Plus I need to still be in the Philippines on the night of the 20th, so this doesnt work.
Tonight I called the MPC number (I am a silver) to try and change the return to MNL-SFO on 11/21. After being on hold for about 30 minutes they told me that there was nothing they could do for me. Something about it being a paid ticket and that the change was with Dragon not Cathay.
Any recommendations on how to switch my ticket? Do I have to cancel and rebook? I am sure this will cost me some fees.
Thanks.

MPC may not be so good with changing reservations - however, there is new outsourced team onboard, and calling again *might* get a different answer.
However, I would recommend you call reservations in the US.

Before the first leg of the ticket: Yes
After the first leg of the ticket: MPC can change it.
It really depends on the MPC agent. I experienced MPC ask me to call eService, but another MPC agent able to change my ticket before the first leg was used. Although I waited for abt 15mins for her to check the fare rule...

Thanks for the advice. eService sorted me out in about 2 mintues.
Strange that MPC didn't tell me to call eService instead of just telling me that nothing could be done. Guess I should have started with FlyerTalk!
