First Cathay Post... A question

Hi folks

Newbie to CX Forum, but not to FT. So have a quick question for the CX Gurus

Situation is: I fly DME-HNG-BKK & HKT-HNK-DME over the Russian New Year Holiday and will be over the 30KG Business Class Limit on the way back (I go to Phuket in October Diving with GF on BA, so am taking the kit and leaving there afterwards to be serviced, so only will be above 30KG on the way back and no chance to split the allowance across two as madam works over new year, so just diving n drinking for me, (Russian Airlines busiest period, no no time off for crew)

The Question: I am BA Gold, heading towards GGL, so want to use the BA Card in the booking to get the Tier Points, but I also (Thanks Amex) have a CX Gold Card which gives and extra 10 KG. Can I have the BA Gold Card in the booking, but flash the CX Gold Card to get the extra 10KG and save the excessively excessive excess bag charges, or is it a case of tough, stump up the readies?

The extra benefits of GGL "may" be worth it if it's not too much, but I am hoping I can get best if both worlds.

Thanks in advance to those who can help

Moscow to Bangkok via Australia, and Phuket back to Moscow via New Caledonia... those are pretty impressive mile runs!

Can't help you out on the bags, but my vaguely relevant comment is that when I was BA Emerald and CX Sapphire, I would ask at check-in for them to rack up the points to my CX account but print out the first class lounge access based on BA.

i have been cx sl and ba ggl and often had no issues with excess baggage being oneworld emerald alone. however when on occassion the rule book was thrown at me the cx silver card was presented and i was given my 10 kg excess allowance no questions asked
