Yes this applies to all regional routes.

Service and soft product masters more to me, so I would.
Plus, I have better chance of opup than on OZ (and I am *G)

Why should paying passengers get more, when as far as the airline is concerned the tickets are both paid for, just using different currency.

If CX ever did this and tried to fob me off with HKD500-1000 cash I would be raising a hellstorm at the airport.
Agreed. I'm a family of four on AA awards, SINHKG in F. For the family, F cost extra 50,000 points vs J, I'd be quite irritated to receive HKD2000 as compensation. That's $175! Street value of 50k AA points is clearly greater than $175!!!

SIN-HKG equipment lottery

I think you get your miles back. The cash is just for the inconvenience.

I would certainly try with AA, a good reason to hold on to boarding passes.

Well, with the NEW regional J I'm sure there will be less complains?

My 77W F on a paid ticket HKG-SIN is now on an OLD 773, 2-3-2 Regional C seat. Talk about a downgrade!
Of course bulkhead is blocked, so I'm in row 14 at a window.
Yuck.
This was purchased in April. There are no flights on my date with F seats now, otherwise I would have switched. There does seem to be one on a 77W with new regional C, so maybe I could switch to that.
What's the experience with downgrades--ticket issued by AA (paid ticket)-- can I change my flight to the one with the new regional C seat? Or should I wait and see since there could be more changes before December?
Thanks for any advice.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 4: Mozilla/5.0 (iPad; CPU OS 6_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/536.26 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/6.0 Mobile/10A403 Safari/8536.25)

New regional C is not available yet (and they will only install regional C on 773 and 772, not 77w

What you see is probably 77G (J, W, Y 3 class) if you see a 1-2-1 seat map and feature long haul business class seat. However if you see a 2-3-2 seat map then it is going to be old regional J

HKD 2000 is more than that.
It's more than $260...

$258, you are correct. Clearly insufficient for loss of 50,000 AA points. Though as others have noted, I might have recourse with AA.

You mean the new regional Y+ labelled as J?

Not that we have been on it, but judging from currently available information, it's certainly nowhere near the Cirrus seat, let alone F.

to save yourself some grief, I might recommend not paying any attention to that until a few weeks before your flight.

Or a few hours before the flight, for that matter...
