Crediting Miles to Alternate Programmes?
My mom rarely travels overseas and she has a few thousand united miles and that is the only mileage account she has.
She has a travel coming up on cx between bom-lax on k class economy. She will earn 9901 miles for this travel. Asia miles are no use to her. Is there any ways she can earn united miles for this trip.

I just look at the conversion: http://www.britishairways.com/travel...d/public/en_us. It seems that she can only get 25% of her miles in Avios. Perhaps you can also check on other CX partners (mostly OneWorld carriers).

If she likes to get Avios points, she should use her BA account number upon booking or present it upon check in.

She can credit them to AS (Alaska), which can be redeemed on several Skyteam and Oneworld airlines. I've been using just AS and UA for all my frequent flyer miles in the past few years (flying all sorts of different airlines) and it's worked out well for me.
