9901 sounds like one-way. If she is returning to India she would earn more than 15000mi, which is enough for an S-zone round-trip award. If she only has 9901, she can top it up for 60USD and get an one-way S-zone. Next time, if you wish to get her UA miles, make sure she books on UA or one of its partners.
