Name sequence change

I bought a ticket from KUL-HKG in the UK online at cathaypacific.co.uk When I tired to access the booking to select a seat online I could not do so. I called CX in London where I live. They said that my name was inverted - family name as given name and vice versa. They said the ticket was issued in KUL and they would not change it. They gave me a number for online booking help in HKG.

Will this cause a problem when I checkin in KUL as my name is not as it is on my passport? I am assuming that it will if not changed.

The staff in HKG said that the name sequence can be changed for a fee. I have agreed to pay and they took the details and say it will be fowarded to the staff in KUL and only they can change it.

The booking form says first name / middle name in the first box and last name in the second box. I am sure that I entered it correctly in western convention. Is this what has caused the problem?

Many thanks for any feedback

I had my name reversed on my hkg-icn-hkg ticket earlier this year and didn't realize until I tried OLCI. Didn't really have a problem with the exception that my oneworld status didn't appear on the ticket. I had to show my AA plat card to go into the lounges even though I had put in my AA FF number in the reservation. When checking in I just let them know that the names are reversed as they couldn't find my ticket when searching by name.

Did you manage to get the miles for that flight credited?

I didn't bother with the miles because the fare I bought doesn't earn miles on AA. I could have tried to credit it to Asia Miles but never gave it a try.
