I was in DPS last month and used a VOA service. I had the same experience as 'jamienbaker'. We were in F and deplaned quickly, we were walked thru the Crew Line at the Passport line and our bags came out first, the VOA service showed up with our passports as we picked up our bags. Less than 15minutes until we were in the cab. I do not know if it would have been as quick without the service but $35 is a small price to pay. I paid for the VOA service in USD and I also paid for the Car Service in USD. I had the same issue with ATM's, you have to make multipul withdrawals and they only offered local currency.

We booked the VIP treatment through our hotel. I'm sure we paid Y fare, but it was about $125 US for the VIP pickup described in all the services mentioned plus a ride to our hotel in Seminyak.
It wasn't the cheapest route to go, but it was convenient to do everything through the hotel and we got the SPG points for it.

Hi-
This subject has been the subject of repeated posts (including my own) over the past several years. I fly CX785 3-4 times a year, and my arrival experiences from that flight at 1455 hours on Fridays and Saturdays mirror that stated by other posters (i.e., massive queues). I've had great luck in "recruiting" volunteers in the arrivals area to expedite the immigration process for 18-20 USD to obtain a visa and get me through immigration in 15 minutes. I can't apeak for other agencies, but on my last trip, I made arrangements with "[email protected]" and confirmed my arrival details. No representative ever showed, and they left me stranded. I wrote them an email, and the response was lame. Under no circumstances would I ever use or recommend their agency.

that's very interesting, I have been wondering if it is actually possible to decide upon arriving wether to use a fast track service or not. Anyone else done this? I plus gf will be coming to DPS in about two weeks in J on CX673 which arrives at 5:20pm, I assume this is a fairly busy time of the day with quite a few long hauls coming in, and it's a Saturday in our case which probably won't help.

Sure, if I decide to use the service no matter what I'll book ahead of time, not trying to save ten bucks.

I know someone who lives in Bali for part of the year. He's told me that for his own personal "fast track" service, he puts 50,000 IDR (about $6) in his passport, and goes up to the Official/Crew line, and has never had a problem.
I have never tried it, and dislike bribing in general.

We arrived off the CX785 a couple of weeks back on a Sunday. We booked the arrivals service through our hotel (Conrad Bali). At just $25/person, this was a bargain.
Although the immigration queues weren't huge (still 15-20 people in each line), it would have taken an hour to get through for sure.
We were met off the plane, escorted through, and we were out the airport with our bags within 15 minutes of arriving. And at the Conrad within 45 minutes of landing. Definitely worth it. Don't even think of not doing it.

Ofcourse if you use the greet service, it means you dont need to stress when you de-plane. You can take things at your own pace and still leave the airport quickly. I guess that is what you pay for!

Surely some of the money paid to the agents to expedite service makes its way to an immigration agent too.

I think it really depends, I came off CX785 a couple of Monday's ago, and it was fine. I was sat in Economy class. I didnt use the greet service but I made a real effort to move quickly, and it payed off. Was out of DPS in 20 mins.

I am sure immigration get their share of the fast-track pie. Wouldn't surprise me if it encourages slower 'normal' immigration as a way of marketing concierge...
We also have DPS to thank for the removal of the 7 day visa (10 US for 7 days, 25 for 30 days) as they were issuing the 30 day visas, but reporting 7 day visas. One day, 7 day visas for all Indonesia were just removed...

we went on aug 6 on CX785 and though it was busy, we walked fast to the visa counter (were in row 30- but with 3 small kids). My wife went to the immigration lines. She was then moved over to the APEC queue (over to the far right) as she had children. It looked like others were doing the same. I have an APEC card so we could have used this queue anyway but we were through in 15 mins....
