They have removed the allowances for sporting equipment. They are gone from one of the best airlines to one of the worst for taking sporting equipment with you. Definitely not good.
Before you could take skis on with a maximum charge of equivalent of 3kgs. Now it seems they will charge anything above your allowance + USD75 as an outsize charge. Not great at all. Lots of people carry skis around - this now makes Cathay Pacific one of the worst airlines when travelling with this kind of equipment.

For through journeys where the passenger travels partly on first or Business class and partly on economy class, the free baggage allowance for each portion of travel shall be granted according to each purchased ticket class.
Where a passenger who has paid the First or Business class fare travels on Economy class, the free baggage allowance shall be given based on that for the First or Business class service respectively.

p.s. who would be stupid enough to pay for first/business class fares and travel on econ....

Sometimes there's no seat in J or F in a particular segment, and if the PAX is willing to, he / she can still buy a J or F TKT (for the rest of the segments) but book in a Y seat for that particular segment.

That is ridiculous. What if I purchase a Y ticket, say KUL-HKG-JFK-HKG-KUL, and upgrade the HKG-JFK-HKG sectors (no stopover in HKG either way)? Would I get 2 pieces of 70 lbs on those sectors and 2 pieces of 50 lbs for the KUL-HKG-KUL sectors, effectively making the latter my allowance for the whole trip? Or worse, 20kg for KUL-HKG-KUL (if the sector split is going to be enforced)?
