Look fine to me, though I don't really care very much what their uniforms look like.

One observation - the delineation in the women's uniforms between the different ranks is crystal clear. On the men, it is basically indecipherable, except for the different coat for a male ISM. Have no idea how one tells a male snr purser from a B&C.

Ditto.

How can they possibly let the male ISM wear a well fitted pair of trousers whilst the rest have such bad fittings for a PHOTOSHOOT. Could they not at the very least photoshopped some of the excess away?

Also couldn't they have chosen more "uniform" looking male crew or line them up in a better order rather than short/tall-short/tall, which BTW can also be easily corrected in photoshop if they couldn't get hold of physically similar crew.

Bleh, the new uniform just doesn't hold up to the look and freshness of the current one.

Maybe this was some kid's school project and not a project by CX? These uniforms are ugly...

Ok, this is for real - confirmed in the July 2010 edition of CXWorld (http://downloads.cathaypacific.com/c...pdf/CXW172.pdf) and there are even more in-depth photos here (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...3#post60162259). According to CXWorld, the new uniforms are also by Eddie Lau - the designer of the current CX uniform - and after a trial with minor tweaks, they will be introduced in 2011.

Well, the CX report says it's a "Trial" and subject to "700 staff reviews", I sure hope those 700 people are brave enough to tell the truth.

I find another report within the document funny: an interview to Alex McGowan about reintroducing the Y-Kit because the airline is making money. His answer was pax has responded by saying getting rid of the Y-Kit "helps the environment" and many pax prefers to use their own toothbrush anyway, so it won't be reintroduce. LOL

not quite sure why did the designer want to use this colour scheme..anyone know the idea of what the uniform wants to bring out?
I really doubt the Y-pax said get rid of the Y-kit, just flew on one yesterday and some pax had been asking why there are no more kit for them?!

Saw cabin crew at the gate the other day, and could not imagine them in such a hideous uniform when the one they are wearing today is absolutely fine and respectable.

One of the male flight attendants on my flight today was in the new uniform. The back of the vest is a tacky yellowish gold colour with CX logos. Generally Asians don't look good in earth tones or dusky colours. The nice clear purple and red of the current uniforms are much more flattering and still look sharp and contemporary.

According to the ISM, these are the new uniforms. The trials are to test for staff comfort. I am shocked that they came up with these ugly uniforms even after focus groups. I don't see how any reasonably tasteful person could prefer them. It's like the coffin seats all over again.

Looks like CX really need to find a new set of "focus group", whatever criteria they are using for their last few batches of focus groups just isn't working.

CX really did better when it was a British-ran Hong Kong based airline.

Eddie Lau is a disgrace to the fashion world.. ! Polyester all over again. Why didn't CX invite bids rather than have him redesign what he did when CX revamped their entire corporate image in 1994?

I could not fathom why CX ditched Hermes (circa 1988-1994) for Eddie Lau !!

At the risk of many posters nationalistic egos in this forum (including mine), this is unfortunately true..... CX has been such hit and miss nowadays... at least they have lower their airfares to reflect their reduction in services.

CB, maybe there is truth in that. If you look at this board as an international focus group, no one I have seen has posted saying they like the uniform. CX just need to ask us We were right about the new J class too, despite CX talking abouir fricken focus groups.
