personally I would save dough for a trip after the baby bonding period, when you two are at your wits end and need a getaway for just the two of you. (you were a couple before the kid, celebrate that once in awhile w/o the child(ren))
I've always enjoyed the reaction of parents in the following:
1st trip away from their firstborn, checking in every 10 seconds.
1st trip away from their 2nd or onward, LET US OUT OF HERE, yeah yeah we'll check in on her/him.
