There are initial signs.
Canada has seen a slight dip in visitors from the U.S. as tensions between the two countries heighten due to tariffs and Donald Trump’s presidency.
Statistics Canada released its report on travel between Canada and other countries in February. It found that trips to Canada by Americans decreased by 5.3 per cent compared to the same time last year, to 1.1 million visitors.

Numbers for February. Drop is not just visitors from Canada.
U.S. Travel Trends February 2025: Visitor Arrivals Drop, Departures Rise - Focus on Travel News
I've seen some data that says it has continued into March.
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...de-war-tourism
These numbers may be affected by Easter which was at the end of March last year vs. late April this year.
The key will be what the data for this summer is.

According to NYT:
Visitors havent stopped booking summer vacations in the United States, either, with one major exception.
Canadians, angered by U.S. tariffs and Trump administration talk of turning their country into a 51st state, really do appear to be boycotting the United States. Ticket sales for travel in summer, a crucial season for the industry, are down 21 percent compared with last year.
The decline in Canadian travelers, who make up roughly a quarter of all foreign visitors, is enough by itself to threaten tourism-oriented businesses in Florida, New York, Maine and other popular destinations.

The interesting aspect to this is the drop in commuter fares. The two Soos are relatively isolated from other population areas. Commuter fares are generally purchased by locals going back and forth to shop, dine in local restaurants, etc. A 30% drop will be rough on Sault Michigan.

WestJet is suspending nine routes between Canada and the U.S. due to lower demand.
The Canadian airlines service from Vancouver to Austin a new route that was originally slated to start next week is now on hold until October. Other previously popular cross-border flights, including routes to Orlando, Los Angeles and Chicago, have been halted for various periods between June and August, spokesperson Josh Yeats told Bloomberg News.
Meanwhile, WestJet has added domestic flights within Canada as well as services to Europe to help Canadians fly where they want to go, Yeats said.

Thank you for the updates. So I wonder Vancouver to Austin?? is it Canadians that are not visiting texas or texans not going to Vancouver.? Both? Currency could factor as well.
So where are the Canadians planning to visit? Where in Europe per Westjet?

Planning a trip to the Canadian Maritimes this summer. Am about two months out and am a bit surprised at limited hotel availability in places like Charlottetown and Sydney, PEI. Perhaps because the Canadians are staying home? (Can't blame them)

There isn't a ton of hotel space in Charlottetown to begin with, so what there is fills up fast. If you want to PM me some dates I may be able to give you some ideas ... can't speak for Sydney tho.

I am currently booked at the Delta Prince Edward primarily because it seems to be right in the middle of 'everything'. Thought it a bit pricey, considering one of the B&B's. The Great George is booked for my dates.

Travel down from Victoria

Collins said Canadian travel on the ferry is down 35% while U.S. travel is down 7% to 10% compared with last year.
“When we’re forecasting to be 35% off during peak season, it’s pretty tough,” Collins said.
To deal with it Clipper, which normally runs two round-trips seven days a week in the summer, will cut back to one round-trip daily, and in the shoulder seasons of spring and fall the schedule will be trimmed to one round-trip five days a week.
...
Travel on Coho Ferry from Victoria to Port Angeles WA is also way down. Clipper is pax only, Coho carries vehicles in addition to pax.
Oh, and IIRC Clipper used to run at least three sailing a day in the height of summer pre Covid.
