Canada may consider electronics ban

I note the thread below was closed but with Canada considering following suit and the UK including their air carriers in the ban (unlike the US), it means AC could be affected. Not to mention the number of TK flyers on this board.

So take this as a heads up and be prepared to check your bag (or take a ship home.) After one of the travel bans on carry-on I made my husband start carrying a folding duffel to put his computer case into since it was a Kensington backpack that didn't close tight. At least he had with him a container to put it in with a TSA lock in case the rules changed while he was on a trip. He never had to check his computer bag but he did have to use it to contain his bag when he had to leave it at checked baggage in Union Station during a trip to the US Consulate for a visa interview.

Yeah, if you're on one of AC's 3x weekly DXB-YYZ flights or yet-to-start 4x weekly CMN-YUL. Not really a big problem I'd think.

Exclamation

As is noted in the linked article:

Since Canada has not yet imposed a ban, Air Canada is not affected.
This is more a Canada forum topic than an Air Canada forum topic and so it has been relocated. When and if Air Canada were to be included in any electronics ban the the matter may be posted in the Air Canada FT forum.

I've done my bit. I've written to Marc Garneau asking him to please consider carefully if a ban is even needed here. I've also asked him to craft a more reasonable policy if the ban is required - I don't think we should have to check our Bose noise cancelling headsets or camera lenses for example.

Since Air Canada is the only Canadian carrier that flies to any of the locations included in the US ban, I figured it was only AC that would be affected if Canada chooses to take the UK model.

Of course, that's a lot of speculation. But speculation is the base of many of the topics in the Air Canada Forum. As in,

How low can AP/AC go? Oh, that low!
