What amazes me is that there is rail infrastructure from Malton around YYZ all the way downtown to Union Stn.
When I was doing my MBA at York before life's responsibility (kids) set in, they were talking about extending the Spadina subway line all the way to the campus.
My son has graduated and my youngest daughter's graduation next spring will precede the opening of the YU TTC subway Station.
Maybe there is hope for my grandkids?

Not defending Ford but Miller would have put in bike lanes to the Airport.

Remember in 07 they tacked on that $60 vehicle tax?? Well the roads are still crap, and the TTC hasn't improved its service. VIVA/YRT actually has better service than TTC.
That was the year we moved to Newmarket, and the reason was the vehicle fee (in addition to all the other "fees" Toronto added in the last few years). There was no way that on top of the provincial registration fees, we were gonna pay an extra $240 to register our four vehicles.

Miller didn't do anything for the city either. I agree. Especially his last term.

Most of the vehicle tax probably went into adding bike lanes to the roads.
You probably also notice a reduction in your auto insurance rate for having a Newmarket residence address.
It is nice up your way; kind of like the Toronto I remember when I was growing up.
BTW they did find gravy at Toronto City Hall, it is on the poutine in the cafeteria.

I'm not saying I don't like what Toronto transformed into.. But truthfully the taxes, traffic, and (lack of) services are a high incentive to move..

Big time - especially since both kids are under 25 still.
It is nice to get away from the city.. I moved to the GTA in late 70s from Manitoba, and things have changed a great deal in 40 years.. I remember when there was absolutely NOTHING north of Steeles. We used to have cookouts there.

It might make sense to take Go Transit (bus) to the Brampton VIA/GO station from YYZ.
Or, Go bus to Malton station (2 minute walk from dropoff point) for connection to Union station train/bus.
Questions, questions.
