Yeah, it's always in my wallet. I meant "carry it in my hand," along with my customs forms.

You're right, of course, crews don't wear leather pilot jackets, but since I do I've had many folks ask me if I'm a pilot (maybe they're thinking off-duty, dunno).

Can we agree, Unions are the problem here? Untouchable, unaccountable to anyone? Ask yourself, would a capitalistic, free-enterprise business allow such a situation to occur (repeatedly)?

Dear all

Is the suitation only bad at night or is it also as such during the day?

I will be arriving at about 3pm in YYZ on a Wednesday. COuld someone please share his / her experience?

At 3 PM on a Wednesday you should be fine - you're past the morning rush, and too early for the evening mess.

There was an article about this in the Toronto Star a few weeks ago. The Customs Agents are saying that there are never enough of them to handle the crowds. The problem was supposed to be fixed by now.

What bothers me about these lineups is that it is chaos when you are backed up in the arrivals hallway prior to going down the escalators (see the picture in the article). People push and shove their way to the front and there is really no crowd control by GTAA staff.

Being based in the US, and having been burned by enough two-hour waits at YYZ customs (not to mention the lineup to get out of the baggage hall once you have your bag) I have started flying into BUF to avoid this. Takes only seconds to pick up a car, and the transit time to TO is about 2 hours. Customs at the Peace Bridge is a breeze. Plus you save $$$ on the airfare even with the cost of a car rental. BUF has really jacked up its airport to accomodate YYZ avoiders, and the flight schedules in and out are pretty amazing.

A large number of WN pilots wear leather jackets.

Also, I think anyone who has NEXUS knows they need to have their card. Its stupid not to anyway, as it makes a very handy - and address free - ID to show the criminals that work security. The OP's point was that they show it so people don't think they are just some punter jumping the line.

As someone who works hard (and has been putting in many hours of overtime lately) to facilitate the legitimate flow of people and goods into Canada while doing his best to enforce a multitude of statutes and regulations, I do take issue with your comment. I can assure you that there is currently no industrial action taking place at YYZ.

I don't think it's likely that the union decides what the schedules are. Blame should clearly go to CBSA management for either not knowing when flights arrive, or not having plans in place for contingencies if multi-widebodies arrive late.

I'm arriving from SCL into YYZ in the early a.m. just after 6 a.m. I'm assuming this is a pretty quite time to arrive and shouldn't be too long to clear customs and immigration?

It can be fairly busy at that hour (usually a couple of 77Ws, an LAX flight and a handful of other US flights), but it's nothing compared to the afternoon gong show.

At T1 there is the largest flight from South America every day.... But at that hour there's nowhere to go anyway.
