Latitude of Toronto?
The intro to the Toronto Forum states:
Except that, well, according to every source I can find, it doesn't.
The latitude of Toronto is 43 degrees and 40 minutes.
The latitude of California's northern border is 42 degrees.
What am I missing here? Surely this issue has been previously addressed, but I can't find anything about it using the search function.
Did you know that Toronto has the same latitude as northern California?
The latitude of Toronto is 43 degrees and 40 minutes.
The latitude of California's northern border is 42 degrees.

The southernmost point of Ontario (Point Pelee) is just a bit north (18') of the Northern California/Oregon border.

(This is based on recalling Ronald Reagan's rationale that Texas is closer to El Salvador than Texas is to Massachusetts, giving a rationale for invading El Salvador. It was then pointed out that Canada is closer to Detroit than Mishawaka is to South Bend, which is an even better reason to invade Canada.)

I've been wondering when someone would point that out. I knew this to be the case but was too lazy to verify the latitude of the CA/OR border on Google Earth. Well done, uncertaintraveler!
Having returned to live in Toronto three years ago after many years in milder climes (including California) I can confirm that the climate here is horrible, and certainly nothing at all like what one encounters along the Pacific coast.
Fortunately, despite its problems Toronto still has a lot going for it.
