I contend that this is, unfortunately, completely believable.

The problem is much bigger than just a website and app. The entire system is fundamentally not fit for purpose and they are spending millions putting lipstick on a pig.

can’t help with BA I’m afraid. But there are a few solutions to the QR 2FA issues here:

Priority 1 major incident in progress. Someone either did an unauthorized change or tripped over a cable.

More likely someone forgot to feed the hamster… who runs in the wheel… that turns the generator… that powers the system!

Can’t make a lost baggage claim at Hamburg because there is no one there. Helpfully there’s a sign with a QR code that doesn’t work.

call BA baggage tracking is the next idea; . They helpfully text me a link to a broken website and hang up. I Call back and ask for an agent. Surprisingly got one after 15 mins, but then put me on hold to tell me I called the wrong number - But he did confirm that my bag was last scanned in Inverness

Angry

And unfortunately I saw availability and transferred MR to Avios just at this time... now down

Hopefully the transfer not lost in the ether but seems like a bit of a disaster is likely.

Yes, up just long enough for me to confirm avios availability before calling (success!). Now gone again so I can't book the next bit
