Might not be the right thread, but I am seeing
J8 C0 D0 R0 I0 W2 E0 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9 G0
For a BA flight in March that currently has no UUA availability.

Is it likely that award space would be freed up nearer the time or does the lack of any discounted J mean they are basically full up front but would bump people if someone wanted to pay full cost J?

Lots of flights show I0 a way off, yet that hasn’t stopped me seeing Club Reward space opening up close to departure…. Don’t think anyone can predict. Have you got alerts set on Seat Alerts or similar ?

Yes, I have SeatSpy, but this is the first time I have ever used it, so not sure what to expect. I appreciate no-one can ever know, but your suggestion that you have seen availability open up in the past in similar situations gives me some reason to hope

the glitch is that the website won’t show any BA flights back from Miami on 27th when I include the overnight in Heathrow on 10th, it only shows the 2110 and 2340 American airline ones.

When I do all the way through from Aberdeen on 11th then it gives me quite a few BA & AA options back on 27th

ive spoken to BA on twitter and they have quoted
£797.82 for your ticket (adult) and £611.82 (child), a total of £1409.64.

I'm just looking for an opinion on what sort of seat I am going to end up with if I don't pay -- I'm on BA49 LHR-SEA on the 18th: F1 A0 J9 C8 D7 R7 I0 W7 E0 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K7 M4 L2 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0 G9

Why would 20F be blocked, as it's apparently not next to a Gold flyer? And 19E and F?

I really really don't want to pay for a seat, but I'm starting to panic. Will 16AB and JK get unblocked 24 hours out? Or am I going to end up with a middle seat?

Generally, I'm a WTP guy and been in this cabin quite a few times. Personally I'd pay either with cash or Avios if the latter suits you and I'd take 19D, for £58 that's not too bad. You can always move if the bassinet seats open up and you can get into them. There's not many choices left and you don't want row 21 as there's no windows there. (See video below at 5:00)

Re the bassinet seats there's no guarantee they'll be available or they're snapped up by someone else for various reasons. i.e they see it earlier, have a connection beforehand and are available.

Re the blocked seats you've posted I think, AIUI, that 20 E and F are blocked (atm) as it's a 'row' as a whole. 19 I'm not so sure. However, Theoretical Seating can change, folks miss their connections, upgrade, change seats themselves etc and it's very fluid. See this thread and post. Others have tried rj.com and had success too in booking if you can't get them on ba.com

Theoretical seating on Bassinets in WTP+? (Silver)

The question I'd be asking myself if you end up in a middle seat I'd definitely be thinking to myself "I should have pre-booked my seat"!!!!!!!

ETA: There are 2 seats available to UuA into CW for info, assuming your ticket is eligible............

Thanks, Peter. On my return flight, which is overnight, I've paid for a seat. But as this is a daytime flight and I would like to stay awake for the purpose of jetlag management, one upside to getting a middle seat is I will be so uncomfortable I won't be able to sleep! I'm trying to decide if I will be more annoyed by getting a middle seat, or by paying for a seat and having half a dozen available at OLCI and having not needed to pay for one.

*Edit to add: I ended up buying 19D soon after this post, as advised. It ended up being lucky because the cabin was fully booked, except for 19E. So I had a nice flight, thanks for the advice.

I don't have status, so UuA seems unlikely. Which ticket classes are eligible? I can't seem to find mine anywhere on the site, but it wasn't expensive.
Hopefully it works out for you! No right or wrong way I suppose and everyone has a different strategy. I think you'll be OK. I'm just an overly cautious person in general.

You don't need status to UuA. Normal revenue/cash tickets are eligible for upgrading. More info in the BA Forum Dashboard.

ETA: WTP tickets are sold as W, E and T. I'd assume as you say it wasn't that expensive it will be a T class fare.

Can you post back re how you get on in your flight? I like how a 'story' ends and I hope it ends well!!

(Apologies to the Mods for OT on this thread but it naturally flowed from loads/EF, thanks)

Pete
