Seems same flight departing 18 May was diverted to St Johns. Not sure how far back BA can go back for operational delay (even if that delay was a medical emergency) to try to get out of EU delay compensation.
I put an EU261 claim in within 24 hours and the next day BA confirmed the 520 compensation for the 2 tickets. Awful to be delayed, but good customer service to confirm compensation so soon. We were just under 4 hours delayed. The compensation is greater than the fare, as used Avios and a Barclays upgrade voucher. BA also sent an email to say check was extended until an hour before the new departure time which made a big difference in spending the day in London rather than in Gatwick. Flight was great other than the delay - the Premium Econ seat in the 777 is comfy; the only complaint was that on both meal services my first choice was not available :-/

Well today's cancellations include BA856 to PRG as I was kindly notified this morning... (should have joined the dots last night when checking in when there were no spare seats showing in J and FR24 was showing the plane going to ARN and PRG at the same time!)

Rebooked on to BA858 which arrives 2hrs 55 later, so assume EU261 is payable subject to it being in BA control? At least the planned hotel for tonight is at the airport rather than in the city!

As you're rebooked onto a flight scheduled to arrive more than 2 hours later, you will get full compensation (220) subject to it being cancelled for a qualifying reason. Not aware of any weather-related issues today so the likelihood is that it does qualify, but you should hopefully have an answer here within a couple of days.

BA0552 LHR-FCO cancelled about an hour before our alarms went off at the premier Inn Heathrow 🙈 After spending 75 on call to BA in US I got cut off. Any idea what the reason is?

Given UK call centre doesn't open til 6, we're on the bus to T5 and hoping to finish rebooking the flight to Naples if someone else hasn't snapped up the availability in the meantime time, is it the customer service desks we need to head to?

Check the BA app, hopefully youll find youve been rebooked already or possibly youll be offered options there. If not, get straight back on the phone to BA.
Im not sure youll be able to get much help landside at T5.

The app only offered us via Madrid tomorrow,we have to get to Italy today as we're flying out with Qatar tomorrow. All sorted via lovely lady at club check in, LHR to BRU with BA, then BRU to FCO with Alitalia. Bags allegedly being checked through, but we have to pick up boarding passes at Brussels. Wish us luck 😁
*Edit* managed to check in for next flight via Alitalia website, so have boarding passes now, just need bags to arrive safely 🙏

I hope you are over the lurgy,

I'm trying to work out why BA123's repeated cancellations would be OPEN - is there some DOH temporary problem?

Sunday 26 May 2024 - Trinity Sunday

Cancellations (bad weather today)

BA1336 NCL = WEAN
BA1454 EDI = WEAN
BA818 CPH = WEAN
BA736 GVA = WEAN
BA440 AMS = WEAN
BA994 BER = WEAN

BA954 MUC
BA584 MXP
BA874 BUD
BA1446 EDI
BA446 AGP
BA123 DOH = OPEN (presumably, seeking clarification)

So 321 departures out of 654. The ATC report is below, but there have been an unusual number of other ATC messages about long holds in the stack (over 25 minutes, at which point some aircraft may need to divert) and take off delays. This is caused by bad weather around LHR,details below.

Landing RWY: 09L
Airborne holding (mins): 12 peak
Departure RWY: 09R
TSAT delay average (mins): 0

Heathrow: EGLLTC regulation 40/60 0540-2000z due to CB risk. End change to Westerlies anticipated between 0800-0900z but TBC.
Network: Majority of first rotation slots being generated by capacity restrictions through Germany. Hungarian restrictions also playing a part due displacement of traffic (Ukraine).

Weather: Low risk CBs LTMA 0600-0900z, medium risk 0900-2000z. High risk NW LTMA 1000-1800z. Risk of isolated gust 25-28KT in and around showers in the afternoon.

hi, just got told that the 1336 is cancelled and now rebooked on the 1338 but downgraded from CE to Economy. Anyone know why this has only been confirmed now when the OP seemed to know much earlier?
