Btw I suspect you have also posted on reddit, where I responded independently sans taking the cancellation codes from this thread Post again if you need any help! On the positive side, you'll be getting 2 * 520 GBP hopefully in a short course

BA441 AMS to LHR cancelled tomorrow and cannot get us back until Tues morning -any one know reason why. I presume they will stand cost of extra night in Hotel meals and parking overcharges.

Plenty of same-day alternatives as far as I can see. If you can't get to the airport any earlier, BA2545 19:40 AMS-LGW still has plenty of seats left in both econ and biz. There's also an 18:15 BA to LCY and 17:45 BA to LHR. Appreciate the LGW/LCY alternatives may not be particularly attractive seeing as you have your car at LHR but you shouldn't struggle to get to LHR from either by public transport (which would be covered under UK261 as a cost of re-routing).

Alternatively you could consider Eurostar, which still has seats left in all classes on the 18:45 train, which gets in at 21:57.

But if what they've rebooked you onto is the next morning and you'd like to stick with that, duty of care covers your hotel in AMS (plus meals and any roaming fees - but no alcohol). Your parking fees in LHR aren't strictly speaking covered under UK261 but BA is unlikely to reject them as long as they're not excessive. Arguably they're recoverable under the Montral Convention if push comes to shove.

Eurocontrol initial network plan for tomorrow Monday 15th. EGLL is the ICAO code for Heathrow.

Cancellation + delay

Hi all,

if my flight got cancelled (15hrs notice) and I rebooked on a flight that departed 1hr later, but it was then delayed by a further 1h20m - am I entitled to any compensation?

TIA

So total delay 2hr20mins? If so, probaby, but would need all the info to double check. It would be 50% compensation.

What was the reason for cancellation?

In that case, no, I'm afraid not. ATC restrictions are an "extraordinary circumstance" for the purposes of compensation. Sorry!

There are ATC restrictions at LHR this morning because of the weather (strong winds meaning a reduced rate of arrivals). No chance of compensation therefore. I am currently sitting on the ground at JER with a 90 min slot delay.

As already noted above, the weather in Heathrow today is very poor and hampering both aviation and ground handling. HAL has issued a note to all staff asking for them to take care, given the "up to" 38 kt gusts. Today's cancellation, rather a lot, are HADACAB and thus WEAN or ARPN (so no compensation if you haven't read post 1).

One service that did run today - at least so far - is BA402 to TLV via LCA - that should get into LCA a little ahead of schedule, it was a nearly full flight, 13 rows of CE.

So BA are down to just 306 departures today, and I can see other airlines have also cut services, so 638 services instead of around 700. Timekeeping right now is very poor, below 50% for arrivals, and a number of other European airports are also facing disruption. Regulation today will be 36/60 but cut down to 34/60 between 0900 and 1100 hrs. The ATC update for this morning is:

Landing RWY: 27L
Airborne holding (mins): 6
Departure RWY: 27R
TSAT delay average (mins): 0

Network: EGLL 36/60 0520-0000. 57 Regulations across Europe. EHAM (Amsterdam) Arrivals regulated due to Capacity - Moderate delays
LPPT (Lisbon) Arrivals regulated due to Capacity - Moderate delays.
LFRR (Brest) V sector regulated due to Weather (Turbulence) - Moderate delays

Weather: A blustery and unsettled day. Isolated showers to start, then a front will bring a band of blustery showers across the region during the morning. Sunny spells and further scattered showers follow during the afternoon. Showers may be heavy and thundery at times with a risk of hail. Showers will ease into the evening, with a low risk of isolated showers overnight. Low risk of CB in the LTMA until 07Z, followed by a High risk 07-17Z. There is a high risk of clustering 07-11Z as the front moves across the LTMA. CB mostly isolated through the rest of the period. Moderate SW'ly winds will become strong and W'ly by mid-morning. Occasional gusts of 30-38 KT are likely throughout the day, with a low risk of isolated 40-45 KT 08-16Z associated with heavy showers. Winds remain strong into the evening, with gusts up to 32KT overnight

if your flight is on that list then probably no compensation as its weather related

You are entitled to Duty of Care, so depending on the length of the total delay you may be able to claim for a coffee and a sandwich

lots of cancellations today, so far
