BA have in the last week made a number of adjustments to their schedule for the month of September.

Hi,

Given that I think PHX is not one of the airports available for EU-US travel, you are almost certainly right.

Looking forward to going back to PHX once this covid situation is better ( but will be odd not on a 747-400)

Thanks for the heads up Pucci - was heading out for my wedding anniversary in October. It’s a shame but we can try again next year - I booked my ticket ex INV on a mini TP run whilst my OH was flying direct!!

Yes I'm keeping an eye for my sister also - I unfortunately ended up with one leg on the only AA flight still operating. They're booked on BA175 outbound which from what I can tell hasn't been operating, but it did have an aircraft change from 747 to 777 so perhaps they are at least planning an expanded schedule at this stage

I did the same from INV - now I am just waiting for BA to tell me what they intend to do. Since we cannot even enter the country - and frankly I am not sure that I would want to.go anyway given the virus problem that there is over there - and would have to go into quarantine for 14 days upon our return - life frankly is too short.

UPDATE


I've just had the mail from BA cancelling the flights. Good to see that they did not mess about - I'm not going near there until this nonsense calms.

I was also tested on arrival to CFU on the first BA flight on Friday, as were a lot of people who sat around me on the flight. If 30-40 out of 6,000 expected tests were positive they would ban direct flights again. Just had my Tokyo flights cancelled for the end of September. Now wondering if BGI will survive then beginning.

BA Holidays return flight from Boston to LHR BA212 in September now operating as A350 so downgraded from F to J. Was an A380 I think. No mention of a reduction in price, not planning to go anyway but that doesn’t seem right.

You can claim compensation after your flight in that case. If I remember well it's 75% of the fare difference between F and J, but there's also talk of the Mennens formula (which I suspect is CWS' real name ). Standard procedure - the handling of downgrades is contained within EU261 but kicks in AFTER the flight has taken place. You can pretty much work it out though to see whether you’d be better off taking it or cancelling to rebook - BA does allow a full refund in this situation if requested.

I've had the flights in a BAH booking cancelled that I previously had to take 3 passengers off and move them to another PNR (and paid a £75, of which these flights have also been cancelled) amendment fee to do so. BAH are saying that the amendment fee isn't refundable. Is this right?

yes that is BA’s policy. Any voluntary change fees paid are not refundable.

there are arguments either way about whether that is strictly in line with EC261 so if you do wish to dispute I would expect you’ll have to put in some effort for any chance of success.

( My bolding )... I thought the same however in the recent thread about the very same issue Downgraded F-J Return leg on flight I want to cancel - Thoughts pls! the OP was refused a refund (unless I read it wrong) after an involuntary downgrade F to J. I was confused when I read it but it seem to allude that the fare rules prevented a cancellation only allowing for a claim after the flight - did I read it wrong? I have a potential similar issue looming and would be interested to get a definite answer.
