It's reasonable for CE passengers in row 1 to expect to be able to place their bags in the overhead lockers. It's poor service for them not to be able to do so. I'm surprised anyone would think otherwise. It's not the end of the world by any means, but makes for a less pleasant experience. I avoid row 1 for this reason.

As it only happens occasionally, I can only deduce that there are other places the crew can use for storage, which makes it even more inexplicable when some crew don't.

I must have been lucky the times I've had row 1. No bags there.

What do other airlines do on similar flights? I don't recall it an issue on Qantas.

* I have some sympathy for the CC, BUT.... put your bags somewhere else. There’s already enough essential flight gear in the front overheads. Not their fault, but BA’s for not giving them somewhere to put their stuff.

And bloody harrumph, and DYKWIA, and I don’t care if someone doesn’t like that.. So there!

Carry on handbagging ,,, GO!

on the 737 which I suppose is comparable to any conversation about CE qantas designates and then locks the overhead above 1D/F

on the 2-class 717 the crew have been told to put it in the overheads above row 4, which is an economy bulkhead so double annoying. I’m not sure what the policy is on a 1-class 717

Indeed - they could have anticipated that customers in the front row would have nowhere else to put their belongings and considered their customer's needs in advance. When they enter the aircraft there are no other bags on board. It is the crew's own choice where they put the bags, and therefore are where this happens deliberately choosing to put their bags as priority to customer bags.

Ah! That rings a bell for the 737, ie seeing the locked compartment. But isn't it a slimline overhead rather than full size?

Perhaps some posters on here would advocate moving the medical kit to a random part of the plane too so they can get their bags above their seat, talk about first world problems.

As for people saying CC bags aren’t targetter by thieves any more than of bags, that is unlikely to be true- your a thief and you can see a cabin crew bag, you know the CC are busy in the galley getting the trolley ready... your far more likely to go for that bag that a pax bag who may be sat in a position to notice.

Almost everything discussed on this forum could be described as a First World Problem, and dismissing something in that way is a little unconstructive.

Why would anyone advocate ‘moving the medical kit’ .........

The thread is all about CC carry-ons, and where best to store them inflight. No poster - other than you - has even made reference to the medical kit.

I could suggest that passengers bags are likely to contain more valuable items than the CC’s spare pair of undies.

yet the medical kit and other safety equipment is often occupying above row 1 on BA and in other airlines, I find it rather interesting that people feel so entitled that they should have the space immediately above there seat, yet there are often real and legitimate reasons why this isn’t possible.

and I’d suggest that’s unlikely to be true, Cc I know travel with laptops, IPads, clothes for socialising, gadgets etc as much as anyone does travelling and indeed they can’t Keep their valuables on them in the same way that a passenger can... the undertone that runs with this, is rather disgusting quite frankly IMHO.

Give the typical income profile between cabin crew and those who fly CE, I was thinking the same thing.
