Indeed.
I've booked a few of these type of error fares in the past just for a bit of fun. I never relied on any of them being honoured and took it on the chin when all but one were cancelled. As this is a BA F one I'd be flabbergasted if they weren't cancelled. Good luck to those who booked them anyway.

Hi, I'm not really confident about the fare being honoured but I'm curious: if you fly the first leg you should be entitled to make change repricing using the historical fare. Does this mean that one could break the trip in LHR or this is possible only at first stopover/destination (MAD/BCN)? Just for my personal learning.

I actually fought BA on that and got a £100 per person e-voucher which was used on BA.com.

you should be able to fly to lhr and then add a stopover. Remember that this adds about GBP 100 in tax though.

you should even be able to break the fare before the first long haul, if you booked CPT-JNB-LHR-MAD for example...

Every day is a bit closer to my departure in two weeks

Shockingly F is completely sold out in both directions from JNB....

If you get cancelled at less than 2 weeks notice then EU261 may come into play. I suspect cedr may go against BA in that case.

EC261/04 relates to flights being cancelled, not someone having their ticket cancelled on a flight that is operating.

I quite agree with this, even though EU is quite protective about customers.
The only exception I think it's in the case you already checked-in yourself and then your tix is going to be cancelled, since in this case I thnk EU261 is fully covering.

True, but since cedr is free, I would still consider it worth a go.

CEDR isn't part of EC261/04 though it's just what it is most commonly used for, the OP can still take their case to them once BA have stated their final position.

In the scenario I envisage, BA reacts in their normal methodical manner, some tickets get cancelled at 1 weeks notice. Cedr might think that was unreasonable and make BA pay up.
