Decided to burn some avios next saturday morning from AMS. Unfortunately I’m unable to do this on november 6 which will be BA’s very last 767 service out of AMS. B767 was always my preferred choice on this short route, once the KLM A310’s were gone.

Will miss these old birds. Two BA 767 flights in particular stand out for me:
1. My first ever flight to the USA. I was a penniless student on my way to meet up with a friend in Washington DC and I snagged a cheap fare on the daytime flight from LHR to BWI. I got upgraded to business and arrived in the USA (a place I later lived and now travel to on a near-monthly basis) in style that was well beyond my means at that point.
2. A few years after that (when I could actually afford business class fares), I remember sitting in the lounge in Nassau dreading the flight from NAS to LHR. I was sunburnt and hungover and really not looking forward to a (probably bumpy) 9 hour flight across the Atlantic. I remember feeling relieved when I boarded the 767 and the cabin almost felt airy and spacious from my seat up front. A few bloody marys from the cabin crew, who were immediately sensitive to my plight, and the drone of the RB211s had me soundly asleep for most of the flight to London.
For every 747 and 767 that's retired from service we get closer to fleets full of A350/787 and A320/737 variants.

For those still wanting to have a last flight on the 767 the current plan seems to be:
- Last EDI and ARN this Wednesday
- Last ATH on Friday
- One off FCO on Saturday
- Last AMS on 6 Nov (no 767 on Friday 2 November)
- From 7 to 25 Nov LCA only

I'll see you both in 4K and probably in the lounge too in the morning. Arriving in on 1S26 / 1B26 from Euston, so probably about 08:15 into EDI. :-)

Hope to see you both tomorrow. Planning on arriving at EDI about 09.00 and going to the BA lounge. Though I may call in at the Aspire lounge as well if I feel in need of a cooked breakfast!

Thanks for this update. Just managed to bag myself a seat on the last 767 LHR–AMS flight on Tuesday. And since I am yet to try one of the Embraers, I am returning to LCY in the evening and working the day from our Amsterdam office. Terrible availability on LCA services meant this was not an option.
