Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post #4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread, MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

For the ARN\MIA run is there any restrictions on the length of the US sectors for more TP's? If I try to route from JFK to MIA via LAX\LAS then the price jumps to 10K.

Looking at next July.

I think there is a max permitted mileage in there. I did try playing about to get a >2k route in but couldn't do it without the price going up so I suspect it isn't possible, Tbh I don't remember fares to east coast destinations allowing routing via the west coast previously so it isn't really a surprise you can't do it.

Could someone please explain what I am doing wrong and how to correct it?

Also -is there any way that w can take the day flight 25th APR from JFK - LHR and the LHR - ARN the next day?

I am sure that I have booked individual sectors in the past - any help would be most gratefully received.
AA.com gives me the same error, and I am more than sure I used it for multi-city/sectors in the past. Something is wrong with that booking engine...
Have you tried via ITA-Matrix and Powertools?

About LHR - ARN last sector on the next day: I was able to force a 23h stop for my trip using ITA Matrix, so theoretically it can be done.

I tried to recreate your routing in ITA, but so far I wasn't able to find a decent price using LCY. I'm waay far from be an ITA wizard, though.
I found this one instead... I don't know if anyone can be interested in. As you see the last leg LHR-ARN can be moved to the next day from US arrival.

P.S.
Using Ita Matrix Powertool I was able to have it priced on AA EU website.

I think it was possible to sneak in LAS returns as an open jaw. I
t worked on and off over the past month, but stopped I think when ZRH return leg got pulled. It was something like GOT/ARN/AMS-MIA > LAS-ZRH.
It was around the same time that the 1k flights to MBJ were loaded. There was at one point a lot of competition between OW/*A and price matching, which, for select routes could be tweaked. Since I booked my summer holidays I have stopped looking.

You can do an open jaw like this - 780 TPs for £1,407 - ARN-HEL-LHR-JFK-CLT-MIA//SFO-LAX-JFK-LHR-HEL-ARN

Is there anything cheap out of YVR at present? Going to be there for a few days and the weather isn't looking great so might spend a day or two flying instead.

That's a very nice price!
Anyway, I am afraid the only way to book it, if Powertools is too difficult, is to call AA as suggested by Binman.
But no need to be sorry. It took a bit also for me to learn how to install Powertools.. and for the last fix I had to ask my IT man (Mr. Lefly) to do it for me as I didn't know how to manage it. It's not really "standard user" friendly.

Also is it too risky to have hold luggage for this type of trip?

Thank you
Hi, not to worry you too much, but you might need to check if Charlotte to Las Vegas is more or less than 2000 miles. If it is less, you will only get 40TPs. whereas if it is over 2000miles, then you will get 140TPs. I seem to remember that Charlotte to a number of West Coast destinations like LAS and PHX are less than 2000 miles but can't find the info. You might want to therefore consider something like going via PHL, or even LAS to LAX via PHX and SAN to squeeze extra TPs in!

CLT-LAS is 1916 miles - correct - but if you look at it again, the long leg is CLT-LAX - i.e. stop in LAX on the way to LAS, which is fine.

I think the AA multi-city engine has been bouncing attempts at connections for a couple of months now - given the specificity of the error message I’ve assumed it’s deliberate. If Powertools won’t land, I think you’re stuck with the phone for anything AA doesn’t want to show you.

My TP Run

Hello everyone!
2 days ago I was on here complaining that I'm trying to buy my TP Run (ARN-MIA) but when copy pasting from ITA to Bookwithmatrix and choosing AA it just wouldn't let me book.
The price kept on jumping up.
But I didn't give up I was stubborn and thanks to Beth from BA she didn't give up for me either so thank you Beth!
Let's look at my route first
ARN-HEL-LHR-JFK-/-LGA-ORD-MIA/MIA-DFW-JFK-LHR-HEL-ARN
A) LHR-JFK outbound leg very short time with only 65 min I really hope that's enough time (though landing and departing from T3.
Any advice on that?
I would appreciate it)
B) when leaving JFK as you can see I'm leaving from LGA but if you wanna fly out from EWR then you will get to try the 321T
C) I know if I was to route via CLT instead that would of earned me 20 TP's more but I didn't want that as on my route I found that I get to try almost every single aircraft I ever wanted
(apart from the AA 77W instead it's the 772....oh well)
Banking me 660 TP's and 24,611 avios (apart from the double base avios promotion that's running till the end of the year
