There was on my recent return flights to SJC. Though utterly pointless to have a selection of melted ice creams in the fridge – but a CC kindly offered me one of the mini Magnums from economy.

The unused ice creams and Magnums on your flight should have been thrown away and not offered.

This was about two hours before landing so they were not unused from previous flight – just melted on board. And the Magnum was one of a few extras loaded for economy that the crew were enjoying. :-)

Sorry I misread your post and thought the flight was from SJC, the Club Kitchen ice creams do not last that long as the box is not well packed with dry where as the box of Magnums is well packed.

The flight was from SJC. So are you saying that the melted ice cream in the fridge was already melted when we boarded? Wow. At least the Magnum was fine, confirming that they would have been well packed.

Confused as you say “on my return flight to SJC”?
If you were served these ex SJC then they should not have been available.

There was no trolley action on my LHR-JFK last week. Orders were taken and delivered in the old way.

Well unfortunately that is an example of crew doing something they shouldn't be doing.

I hope when you say "the old way" you don't mean they had the old trolleys in the cabin?
