Mid day layover at CAI
I'm departing on a BA flight from CAI at 5:30PM, but I will arrive in CAI around 11:00am from Luxor (with a family of 4). Flying in J with BA. Not sure if we will get our boarding passes before hand or if we will have to get them in person at the check in counter.
Question: If we can't get airside when we arrive (if we don't get our electronic boarding passes in advance for what ever reason), should we just go have a drink at the Le Meridian until the BA check in counter opens up (assuming 3-4 hours prior to departure)? Thoughts?
Thanks!

Egypt has to write down the departure form and it's only given by the airline you're on. That is, you must stop at the BA counter
And if it leaves at 5 p.m. after arriving at 11 a.m., I would recommend a shopping mall like City Star rather than a hotel. Terminal 2 used by BA doesn't have a fast lane and you have to get a security check before entering the check-in counter. In my experience, 30 minutes was the shortest.
In other words, you have to go back to the airport at 2:30 at the latest..

Definitely go to the Le Meridien - you dont need a room but at least you have a clean hotel to relax, eat, drink etc until it's time to go back to the airport.
As per above, there is nothing to do at the airport, the lounges are awful and the less time spent there the better..
