Bumping my post #37 above
I am booked to fly CAI-LHR-USA (all on BA) in a few weeks' time ...could I ask for the CAILHR portion of my trip to be endorsed to another carrier without such restrictions (e.g. CAI-LH-FRA-BA-LHR-BA-SFO) withut any fees, since my ticket was purchased looong ago, before such restrictions erupted on the scene.

Yes, I've seen a briefing note that this is going to happen for all the HMG designated countries (so including Egypt), and since it's in the Sunday Telegraph tomorrow, I suspect the ban will end fairly soon.

I'm flying IST-LHR-LAS next week, I hope I can have my laptop with me.

Now that the ban from Istanbul (Sabiha Gocken) has been lifted, is there any news about the other stations where the ban was imposed? Was that Sunday Times story limited to Sabiha Gocken only?

The ban has been lifted on TK operated flights from IST, guess its only a matter of time until BA follows.

Looks like BA is not going to do anything! The following airlines got the ban lifted, with no sign of British Airways.
  • Turkish Airlines (from Istanbul Ataturk or Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen)
  • Pegasus Airlines (from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen or Izmir)
  • Thomas Cook (from Dalaman)
  • Easyjet (from Bodrum)
  • Atlas (from Istanbul Ataturk)
  • Royal Jordanian Airlines (from Queen Alia International Airport)

Latest UK position (which applies to ALL airlines) is here:

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/c...ation-security

Only applies to Istanbul so the other airports you mention are still subject to restrictions

Just checked and Reuters confirms some of the airlines listed https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-usa-airlines-uk-turkey-idUKKBN1AD1R6
Personally trust Reuters to be more up to date than FCO.

The source is from Business Traveller, stated that the DfT released a statement, which included the above mentioned airlines.

I wondered the same, as the website clearly states the ban will be lifted by airports. But clearly it's not the case, the website said the ban on flights from SAW are lifted although TK confirmed they have the ban lifted on flights from SAW and IST.

In any case, unlike the other airlines mentioned, BA has clearly not done whatever it is that it needs to do to get this ridiculous ban lifted. RJ flights from AMM to LHR are no longer subject to the ban; BA flights still are.

Everyone (including the FCO) hates BA.

Is there any way to find out when (or if) BA plans to follow the steps undertaken by other airlines, including RJ, to have the ban lifted?
