was great fun thanks KARFA. I have posted some stories and pics on my Instagram, including a very challenging 45knot cross wind landing aced by our SFO. Will post some more here soon! :) looking forward to next time

Good time by all of us in group 3. We were so engrossed in the flying that no one snapped any photos. Hope to see some photos posted here.
Made it to Dublin with no problems due to the winds, even got an earlier flight with no fees on EI. Another media over hyping a weather story.

I'll post some pictures tomorrow once I have access to my computer. Now flying home.

You did remember not to enter the cockpit on that flight, didn’t you?:D

A big thanks to Karfa for organising this, and Andy at BAFT for all his hard work too.

Great fun in the 747, although apologies to my fellow sim buddies as I think I broke it with a particularly impressive bounce at SFO!

Well done KARFA for putting together a great evening; also to Andy and our instructors at BA who were very helpful and made everything run smoothly. The gift for Andy was a nice gesture. It was a fascinating evening but also challenging. In 747 group 3 I think we were all new to it and found it took a while to get the feel of the 747 handling. I took a few pics but only on a phone so they are not great. I'll check if anything is worth posting.

My record was one approach and sailed right over the runway; didn't realise the 747 almost has to be forced down. One rough landing but just about on the runway and one really rough landing that took out most of the runway lights and ploughed some deep furrows in the grass!

We also had a few issues with our 747 but it did give us a chance for a quick look at some of the other newer sims.

Bounced? I heard you were trying to cheat by getting 2 landings for the price of 1 :D

Agree, the simulators are usually very busy and there is not much incentive financially for BA to accommodate us, so I am very grateful to Andy for his help over the last 4 years of doing this.

I had a horror landing too where we didn't quite stick to the runway!

At one point I was just doing repeated take-offs whilst 12939 and flatlander basically tried to put in the worst failures they could find on the instructors panel

Well I managed a Canarsie Approach into JFK (13L) on a 777, so a quick hop from LHR to BSL shouldn't be a problem now. :D

florens Oct 22, 2017 1:52 pm

My first upload to Youtube. Our SFO landing with 45kts crosswind on LHR's 27R.
