I'm seeing some decent fares on matrix in early December ex Ams...approx £1900 for AMS - LHR - SCL - LHR - BUD, all BA flights in J/I/I/J. Example below isn't optimised as it has a long layer in London but should be able to take a later flight from AMS if you play around with it.

Just jumping on this query, do you guys know why BRU has such good fares to South America(well I have been looking at GRU but looks like consistent across SA)?
I have just booked a return Business (I) fare from BRU-GRU via MAD (IB) for EUR 1,800ish and also an economy return on same route in early 2018 for EUR 520. I know there is a sale in Belgium but these rates seem a lot better than other European countries? I fly this route often (personal flights) so am looking for any way to reduce cost of travel!
Apologies for mentioning an economy fare here but you guys seem really on the ball
edit: Should say I live in Dublin so try start flights from here but sometimes take a separate flight to european hub when price is favourable.
Thanks

Aloha everyone!
Bit of a long shot but any pointers most welcome... So, the better half is coming up to the end of their training this December, and I thought a 'surprise' trip to Chile would be a pretty awesome well done after 14 years of medical school and junior doctoring. A trip in J or even F would be ace, but I'm getting £6-9k fares from London...which is (obviously?) massively out of budget.
Are there ever any decent ex-EU fares to SCL or GRU? I've had a play with Matrix but no dice, and so I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or...?
Any hints, tips or pointers most appreciated!

I defer to everyone else's advice on the actual flights, but that is a lovely idea after many years of hard work! I hope you have a lovely time.

It looks like BA has some cheapish ex-LHR fares to HKG and BKK next year.
I found BA LHR-HKG//HKG-BKK-LHR, GBP 1700-1900 -
IOJ4SUK0
PERMITTED 11JAN THROUGH 24APR.
GBP 1858 on the dates I looked at
or
IOL4SUK0.
PERMITTED 25APR THROUGH 30JUN OR 14SEP THROUGH 08DEC.
GBP 1713 on the dates I looked at
Similar prices LHR-BKK return as well.

It's basically only good for departure on Nov 21. W is £700 and J is £1200.
