** AA Domestic First on two cabin will earn business TPs and avios for departures on or after 11 January 2017 - see reference posts for more details **

** Note that the practice of AA Domestic 3-class service flights booking into A for 210 TPs when I was no longer available ceased in September 2017. Discussion here. **

Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. The guide to using ITA matrix in post #4 (see here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest. AMS and JER easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seems the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post (here) MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports)

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520. Also the BA fare for LHR-HEL-TLL at ~£235 is still available and would get 200 TPs for a return.

I would like to make an opposing view on the DUB-PHL route using the A330s - this is an excellent product, much better than the 757s on the JFK route.

I stand corrected, as I've only ever done the old 757 LAX - HNL, ignore my dismissal of them. The route I picked was for the 321T and avoidance of the 757 entirely. My last 757 was in 2015 and it was not enjoyable.

Not sure if it has been posted but MAN-SAT etc has been filed again. Ticket by 25 April this time. New fare rule added - must be AA operated and marketed transatlantic. Looks like it is much harder to use now, but it's nonetheless there at the same price as the last round.

Yes 2/8->13/8 prices via CLT €1668 on .ie site using fare ILN8S4C1W which the .co.uk site ignores in favour of the more expensive fare

They are on to you with your routings via HEL and on AY!

Thanks for noting, will add something to the wiki and fare post

AA ILN7B4T1 MAN to SAT/OKC/LIT - ~£1,046 in J

It seems the MAN-SAT AA fare has been refilled yet again so details below. Also covers MAN to OKC, and LIT..

Doesn't work for other UK non-LON AA departure points or allow routing via LON.

Note that the routing via HEL and on to JFK is no longer possible now since the fare rules only allow routing on the TATL on AA operated flights.

Example prices:
OKC - £1,046
LIT - £1,006
SAT - £1,046

Routings such as MAN-BOS-DFW-SAT or MAN-JFK-PHX-SAT should be possible.

Note that the routing via HEL and on to JFK is no longer possible now since the fare rules only allow routing on the TATL on AA operated flights.

640 TPs is possible with MAN-JFK-xxx-SAT routing, where xxx is somewhere on the US west coast and is over 2000 miles from JFK - a list of > 2000 mile routes which earn 140 TPs is in post #2 of this thread.

Matches my experience too.

The old AA 757 J seats were awful, IMO, and even worse for the OH whose seat did not move at all on the flight from JFK to DUB.

Would only get on an AA 757 if I knew the flat bed seats had been installed.

As noted previously by rossmacd - can be routed MAN-HEL-JFK-BOS and return. So 520 TPs in total. You could get 600 TP max if you went via HEL both out and back and did two transfers in the US, so something like MAN-HEL-JFK-DCA-BOS rtn. MAN-HEL and then on to JFK or ORD. If you route via HEL you can't do a >2000 mile route in the US though due to maximum permitted mileage, so something like MAN-HEL-JFK-PHX-SAT wouldn't work.

Note that the routing via HEL and on to JFK is no longer possible now since the fare rules only allow routing on the TATL on AA operated flights.

640 TPs is possible with MAN-JFK-xxx-SAT routing, where xxx is somewhere on the US west coast and is over 2000 miles from JFK
Many thanks Beaulieu and Karfa. Matrix doesn't find any routings via BOS/DFW or JFK/XXX for this price, and AA.com wants to charge over £2,800.

I'm looking to go to OKC or SAT for 7 days in early September but this fare seems to be only pricing up via ORD/DFW.

Can anyone find 640 TPs for £1,048 in the real world or is this fare just going to continue to be a tease - I've lost track of the hours I've spent chasing this over the past few weeks!

Thanks. Have removed BOS from the post now.

On 640 maybe they have brought the MPM down? I notice it is now 5827 whereas MAN-PHL-PHX-SAT would be 6352. Not sure there is any way to lever a 2000 mile US domestic route in now?

Play and amend as you like. Don't put the start or end cities in the routing codes box.

You could also set "minimum cabin" to cheapest available. Your bc=T will keep you in premium Y over the Atlantic but if your ARN-HEL flight is Y, Matrix has trouble deciding whether to allow it or not since it's below premium economy.
Thanks, the low prices disappeared before I managed to book something though.
I just had a look at it again, the lowest price is this which have a weird rule.

Hi Ned1968,

I can confirm succesful booking of the below AA flights for the price shown - on Thursday.
AA converted the price on the phone back to GBP, total 1166,94 per ticket.

The fare appeared and disappeared several times from then to today.
Now I can also no longer re-produce the routing.
But as a proof point, fare was bookable.
Perhaps it comes back with the old rules.

It's definitely there - google flights will produce some routings on some dates but it is much more challenging now as I think they've added tighter restrictions.

BOS in theory is ok up to end of April again if you can find it. Max theoretical TP is 680TP if routed via HEL and CDG or FRA with the TATL on AA prime, then 2 sectors within the US, if you can price it up.

This is the Higgs Boson of TP runs - great theory, shadows of it everywhere but impossible to actually find. ITA Matrix isn't showing anything that I can find for April or September or otherwise for £1,044 apart from MAN-ORD-SAT-DFW-ORD-MAN. 400 TPs but over £2.60 each. I might give CERN a call!!

Given that CE domestics are now 40TP, the AMS-LON-GLA-LSI-ABZ fare I used last summer returns even better value. It is currently showing as £465 for 320TP on ITA Matrix and will give 10k Avios (as Gold) which pays for the RFS positioning flights to AMS if required!

At £1.45/TP it is probably one of the better options for a TP run close to home.
