2017 POUG rate tracker

Please add your own successful results to the follow list including the month/year when the POUG was offered to you. Please delete any figures from 2017 or earlier if you have a 2018 price. Previous data lives on via post 2.

UPDATED TO: Post #418

POUGs are offered via BA.com and the App Manage My Booking via a distinctive banner (example from MMB below). You cannot get a POUG by telephoning, however the service centres can complete a POUG which falls over mid transaction. They are offered on cash and Avios redemptions but typically not on complex routings, BA Holidays or travel agency bookings until OLCI stage. POUGs on Avios redemptions won't get you additional TPs/Avios, but they will on revenue tickets.

Short haul routes from LON to/from Europe
A price in pounds indicates a ticket issued from London, other currencies indicate prices for tickets issued overseas (e.g. singles or returns originating from CDG priced in Euros). Multiple prices indicate a range of fares are on offer. Note that LCY prices currently seem to be on a different basis to LGW and LHR (cheaper, in other words).

JFK to LHR
WTP to CW
£589
November 2018 (offered about 10 days before flight)

Don’t think I’ll take it unless the price drops as it’s a short flight and I already have lounge access.

LHR-LIN £129 for next weekend - same as the previous entries in the wiki.

As I am booked in an emergency row seat and have Flounge access - I think I'll give it a miss.

AMS-LGW earlier this week 89 EUR. LGW-AMS next week £79. Both slightly overpriced for flights in the Afternoon Tea slot, I think.

Just got offered WT+ > CW for LHR-MIA for £599

Even though it's like £400+ off the list price, it's still a bit of a salty price for us - has anyone had success foregoing a POUG and been offered a cheaper one later? I'm willing to play chicken with BA if they are.

There are plenty of people who have ignored offers like this and later got an upgrade for free.

And there are plenty of people who have ignored offers like this and later sat in the seat for which they paid.

As a wise man once said, predictions are very difficult - particularly about the future.

Since I'm climbing the status ladder just on personal leisure flights alone, I'll only be a lowly Silver by the time this trip rolls around - I've never been offered a free upgrade, but I assume status plays into it? Off topic, I know, I'll go research it more.

I also read here somewhere that BA likes to upgrade people to show them a slice of the good life as a marketing tactic - but since we already happily paid for a POUG from WT to WT+ to CW on the return trip, I suppose I oughtn't count on that either?

You make it sound like it's some sort of punishment I'm sure we'll be perfectly happy in WT+ too!

After discussing this with my TA, she told me she can book directly on BA.com for me and this solved the issue as I already got a POUG for my trip to AMS in January It might be an option for some of you.

LGW-EDI next week.
ET-CE £70

If I wanted it that much I could have paid +£60 at the time of booking.

£179 LHR to AUH next week. I was hoping for a slightly lower offer but took it as the flight lands at midnight and I have to be up to work the following day so the extra legroom will help. The exit rows in WT were already booked and I couldn't rely on a bulkhead coming free.

I've also been going to AMS a couple of times a month (LGW and LHR) and get £79 every time both ways. Doesn't seem to matter if it's a half empty, cheapest basic flight or a post work fully booked flight on full tier points, I get the same offer. Not that I ever take it.
