2017 POUG rate tracker

Please add your own successful results to the follow list including the month/year when the POUG was offered to you. Please delete any figures from 2017 or earlier if you have a 2018 price. Previous data lives on via post 2.

UPDATED TO: Post #418

POUGs are offered via BA.com and the App Manage My Booking via a distinctive banner (example from MMB below). You cannot get a POUG by telephoning, however the service centres can complete a POUG which falls over mid transaction. They are offered on cash and Avios redemptions but typically not on complex routings, BA Holidays or travel agency bookings until OLCI stage. POUGs on Avios redemptions won't get you additional TPs/Avios, but they will on revenue tickets.

Short haul routes from LON to/from Europe
A price in pounds indicates a ticket issued from London, other currencies indicate prices for tickets issued overseas (e.g. singles or returns originating from CDG priced in Euros). Multiple prices indicate a range of fares are on offer. Note that LCY prices currently seem to be on a different basis to LGW and LHR (cheaper, in other words).

For info; just been offered £119 for LHR PRG upgrades both way. On this occasion I didn't take it as I wasn't in need of the additional tier points.

Jut got offered quite a good deal on a what seems like a pretty full flight:
LHR-SEA, $288 WT to WTP

F7 A5 J4 C2 D0 R0 I0 W2 E0 T0 Y3 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0 G0

I guess Y is pretty overbooked to offer such low price on W2 10 days before the flight. I took it, now hoping for an op up to CW

I have an upgrade offer on a return flight to Pisa over Easter at a bargain price of £2,143 pp. To be fair, that is for both ways.

I've just accepted to pay for a POUG LHR-LYS for £89 — practially entirely for the additional mileage (which I credit to AA) than for the "lunch", which I'll probably barely touch after a 3-course meal in the CX F restaurant. However, I'm dismayed to find that I'm now booked in U class, which if I understand correctly won't yield any miles at all?

Does anyone have any experience of LGW-PUJ, specifically W+>J? Off in a month. Nothing showing yet but flight load would suggest there might be soon

If youb started with a paid flight, ie not upgrading an RFS, then you will earn 40 tier points and the appropriate Avios. Ignore what the calculator tells you, the flight will post correctly.

OK thanks, am just hoping that AA does the same. They did last time (can't remember which booking class it showed as though).

POUG on mixed class itinerary

If I have an itinerary booked on ba.com that is a return flight, for example LHR-OTP-LHR with one flight (outbound) in ET and the return in CW, is it possible to be offered a POUG on the outbound (ET) sector?

Obviously it's not guaranteed, etc, etc, but is it possible within BA's IT and ticketing limitations?

MUC-LHR, 129€. That would be a 'no'.

Hmm, let me just think about that for about one tenth of a second.
Would have been difficult to justify even before the CE catering changes were introduced, but now that MAD is on the Pannini/Toastie rotation it's a no brainer unless you are desperate for TP's.
And I now find that I may have to eat my scoffing words: 15 TPs short of a GUF2, and this £159 POUG is cheaper than any other way of getting them (particularly once the value of time is taken into account).

I wonder if there has been a decrease in number of POUG offered. I have several short haul flights between now and the end of the year and the only POUG offer I'm getting is to and from DUB.

A quick technical question: If a PNR has two passengers and a POUG is offered, if I phone to split the booking (because only one person wants the POUG) is there any danger that this will mean that the POUG disappears? Does it make a difference whether the person who wants to take the POUG is the one who stays in the original booking?

That is precisely what will happen, namely the act of splitting the reservation will remove the POUG, at least online. I think what you have to do is call up, they will run their emulator to check the POUG is offered, then split the booking during the upgrade. At least that is what I believe to the situation, it would be good to get confirmation.
