After much speculation BA has confirmed the launch of non-stop flights from Heathrow to New Orleans (MSY) from 27 March 2017.

Service will initially run 4x weekly on 3-class 787-8 aircraft:

BA225 LHR 1540 – 1940 MSY 788 Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat
BA224 MSY 2120 – 1200+1 LHR 788 Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat

Lounge arrangements (if any) at MSY are yet to be confirmed.

Indeed....and perhaps the recent unseasonable heat and humidity in MSY punctuated by the odd Cajun Bloody Mary might have something to do with it!

MSY have called a press conference for tomorrow morning to make a "special announcement for the future of MSY".

Thread over on a.net is stating that they will announce the new BA service. Of course our a.net friends could be very wrong. Time will tell.

If it's about the "future" of the airport, it sounds more likely to be a strategic/structural announcement rather than a mere route announcement.

Can't be the new terminal, since it started construction at the beginning of the year, so old news. Besides, airports like to hype things up, so I would not rule it out.

Maybe they're getting a new runway!

Or maybe the airport bus will run all the way to the CBD on weekends!

Sounds like the suspense is as gripping as that to be found in a best-selling page-turner

Maybe they finally did a deal for an airport hotel that got no bids a while back.

Looks like the new flight is loaded:

Edit: Looks like I'm wrong, and Kayak/TravelUp lied to me.

The timings seem a bit wrong however; 12h + to an east coast destination?

That's just an AA stopping flight which an OTA is displaying incorrectly.

These are flights with stopovers in Miami or Charlotte.

There were non-stops showing for £1435 one-way.

I think it was BA733 but I can't get it back on my mobile
