Why can't I find this ba.com fare on ITA Matrix?

Why can't I find this ba.com fare on ITA Matrix?

Trying to book LHR-IAD/BOS-LHR in WTP. Out 16 Nov back 30 Nov. Nonstops.

ba.com gives a £833.45 fare in T class. I had guessed this part of sale ending tomorrow night but may be wrong. I'd love to find this fare in Matrix to get the rules but can't find anything less than £1287.45 for same flights in WTP which is explained as an "shoulder season midweek premium economy instant purchase fare" in the rules, but without, in quick scan there, any purchase by date, thought I assume there is one.

Basic question: why doesn't Matrix reveal the "good" ba.com fare.

I suspect it is this one QLX4S4T1/DIF4.

There seem to be a number of special WTP fares which are only available via ba.com.

I've had this quite a lot recently, especially for WT+

There's also some interesting ones bookable via BA Holidays that aren't on Matrix, Google Flights etc. I booked one the other day for £920 LHR-SJC return, including a decent car rental (and, if my calculations are correct, yielding something like 35k Avios with the 3x promotion & holidays bonus)

The current crop of DIF fares appear to be restricted to sale on ba.com. Not even the BA call centre can get them, which has caused some angst here. They are published because you can see them in an EF listing and get the fare rules for them, but their distribution is restricted to specified channels. That will be why ITA won't price them.

I think that the way they work is like this: Normally, you would expect a T class (WT+) fare to have a fare basis code starting with the letter T, for example TLX8S4C1; normally, the first letter of the fare basis indicates the booking class into which the fare must book (at least on the main part of the journey).

However, KARFA quoted a fare basis QLX4S4T1/DIF4. If you were to see a fare basis of QLX4S4T1 on its own, you'd expect it to be a cheap economy fare booking into Q class (the second lowest booking class) - and if you look at a fare listing for your route (eg on ExpertFlyer) you should be able to see that fare listed.

However, QLX4S4T1/DIF4 is a fare that books into T class and therefore gets you seated in WT+. But it should only be valid if both Q class and T class seats are available on the flight - hence "Dual Inventory". If Q class is sold out on your flight, then it does not help if the flight is T9. To book in T class, you'd then have to pay a different (and higher) fare. For example, if the flight is T9 N9 Q0, you could book in T class using NLX4S4T1/DIF4 but not QLX4S4T1/DIF4.

I am fine, we are a Specialist Partner (Marine and Groups) for BA and had communications regarding selling them. Basically fares are £200 each way to upgrade I believe

We are seeing a lot of F class cheaper than J class fares. Worth checking if you a decent amount of advance purchase
